If you cannot get it to amplify then your problem is more than likely in the stylus or arm down pressure. Give that a try and if that is not it post more information on what you have tried.

SOURCE: Teac P-988 Everything sounds slow/warped

not passing the "wow and flutter" specs, eh?
The most common cause of this is a loose or defective belt. An inferior belt will have varying thicknesses along it's length. When it hits a skinny part, it will slow slightly. When it hits the thick part, it will speed slightly. Overall effect is that the record sounds warped.

The amps on the unit have probably died. Did they replace it for you? I'm becoming alarmed at the number of units just dying for an $800 piece of equipment.

Have a hmx 750 compact hi fi cd player just clicks doesn't play cd's

The clicking is the lens assembly attempting to focus on the CD. If you can get to the optics assembly, clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. The accumulation of dust or dirt can cause this. Try that and update this if it fails to resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

Sound in my toshiba laptop is very less , i have installed sound driver "context" . still sound is low.

This is your correct driver, please re-install it from here:

If this doesn't help you, you can try this:
1. Go to Control Panel then open Sounds. increase-volume-1.png
2. Click on Properties and open the Enhancements tab. Beware, You might not have Enhancements tab, lust like me. Go to next suggestion.

increase-volume-2.png
3. Check the Loudness Equalization checkbox then press Apply then OK.
increase-volume-3.png
If this trick doesn't work for you nor you can't find the Enhancements tab on your Sound's Properties (just like me), then try this next trick. Use VLC Media Player When playing your favorite music or movie, try using VLC Player. VLC Player as a unique volume meter that goes up to 400% of your maximum pc volume.

don't replace the cartridge. it is "built-in" (not user-replaceable) needle options are at above links. The different prices of the "211" needles are different quality levels. All of which will fit in your cartridge.
