Question about Philips 20PS40S 20" TV

3 of five local channels went to snow

We are rural and not cable. Running on antenna. Last night 3 of 5 local channel went to snow with programming in background. Not the cable which has been checked for damage. It also operates when a portable TV was plugged into it. TV is a Phillips 20PS47S301 from April 2003. Can get to the autolock portion of the remote because the factory access does not work (0711 pressed twice). Out of ideas and have tested everything in the manual. Thanks

Are there any lightnings or thunder in your area when it happened.try checking your tuning settings, maybe the program was reset so u need to reprogram the channels again.try removing the batteries of your remote and put it back on again then try to access.i have encountered that problem and i end up buying a new
tuner module.and that fixed the problem.

I dont have a remote and im trying to set up a digital tv antenna but the only channels im getting is 3 and all the video inputs. How to i program channels

Hello,

Usually channel 3 is picked up on a channel scan when there is an input device connected to the TV via a Coaxial Cable, thus using only channel 3 on the TV itself and using the Digital converter box to tune in the channels.

The TV will need to be Digital ready to connect only a Digital Antenna to it and programmed to receive the Digital Broadcasts over the air. If you are certain that this TV is Digital Ready (TV manufactured from 2009 to the present) you can use the menu button on the top, side, or front of the television, then use the channel / volume buttons to move around the menu, and the input button as the enter button.

You will want to select Antenna (ATSC) signal before starting the auto program so the TV will be able to recognize the Digital Channel Broadcasts.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Scott

MY TV only goes to channel 3 and dvd mode and i dont have the remote that came with it can someone help me.

walmart, universal remotes from $7.00 and up, the problem should be that channels up to 3 were blocked and you need to re program channel search on menu, cable or antenna option and then, locate channels with signal, if you watch tv from cable, the channels search only detected the channel 3 as a channel with signal, if the tv is not hdefinition, you wont need more channels, if it is hd, there is an option for dvd, antena (hd signal of course) and hdm or whatever signals capability, I hope I helped you, othewise, contact me and I will be more than happy to help, God bless

My magnavox 27 in TV will not let me select channels after I went to auto channel select. How do i reset it?

Be sure you have a signal connected to the RF [antenna jack] Connector! You may also have a corrupted EEprom. This is a common problem for this TV. But try the programming and be sure your menu says you are programming for Cable or Over the Air signals. And if you have a satellite or cablebox you shoud be on channel 3 or AV 1 or 2...in this case you need to do nothing..as the channels you select come from your satillite or cable box.

We have been trying to set the channels in our old picture tube tv. it scans through the channels and once complete, you can only watch the last channel found and once you go to change channels, it...

Be sure your tv is programing with a correct signal. Air or cable channels, and that you do have a line going into the RF connector [antenna signal]. If you have a satellite or cable box your tv will only tune to channel 3. Also, if you are logged into a dvd player or vcr...you will only have one channel memory. Remove any of the external players [games, dvd, vcr etc.] And retune with auto program!

Cannot get local channels back after dropping cable.

Are you positive that your city has not done the Digital Conversion? Some Cities are doing it early before the February deadline. Also make sure you are tuning in to the correct channels. Meaning that if on your Cable Provider ABC was on Channel 3 that does not mean that ABC with still be on Channel 3 after you have your Cable turned off. Most of the Time the Local Stations Tag will let you know what channel its on. It will be something like "KWAS ABC 27" So on your TV you would Tune it to channel 27 to get ABC and the same fore NBC , FOX, CBS , etc...
I hope this helps Take Care =)

Symphonic 20" television will only get three local channels

I suspect your tv has gone back to air and should be in cable mode; you will have to go into menu where channel programming takes place. Select cable and autoprogram; it should pick up the missing channels.

TV gets all channels, except 2-6

In most cases when you set your menu ("tuner section") to cable, the tv will pick up all channels, but if you set it to "off air" or "antenna" (or whatever the other choice is labeled), then the tv will only go up to about channel 50 or 60. Are you using cable, dish, or an antenna on top of your house. If using cable or dish, then go into the menu on your tv and set the tuner to "cable". I am pretty certain that your tuner is NOT currently set on "cable" and that also there are no local "off air" channels in your area on 2 thru 6, therefore, you see snow on these channels. I have repaired hundreds of tv's and I feel very strongly that your problem is in your menu.

Sony kv-32s42 needs help.Tuner problems?

Hi Grasshoppa, I would venture a guess that your tuner is not at fault but most probably the logic circuits controlling it since as you posted, you can tune > get a good picture but "channel numbers in the upper right hand corner ...." If your intention is to use the VCR and thereafter change channel using the VCR, you may use the Audio/Video input. With an RCA 3 cable connector, connect the (Yellow) Video out, (Red/White) L/R Audio out of the VCR to the Video in &L/R Audio in of the TV. You don't need to set the TV to Ch 3 but rather select Video 1 or 2 or A/V. Hope this be of some help/idea to you. Post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards

Can't get any tv reception

My friend, you need to hook up a signal source such as an antenna or cable . The channels wont come in and it will all depend on where you live and how close to a major city on what and how good you will get the stattions. then once an antennena is connected, do the auto programming again. Good Luck
