Hello,
Heve you gotten all of the drivers for it yet?
If not goto:
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com/canada&siteid=7297&areaid=17&formid=3394#results
put in Notebook and Aspire 3000 to the search and download and install all necessary drivers

After you do that you can either take the computer to a local repair shop and ask them to create a restore disk or you can normally make one yourself easily depending on the version of windows you have. If you would like help with that please let me know what version your windows is. In order to find out click Start--> Run and type "winver" (without the quotes) and post everything it says.

I hope this helps

Reset to factory seting

Unlike other laptops, Acer Aspire notebook/laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9 to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer Aspire One laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer one to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer Aspire One is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your notebook data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

My Acer Aspire 3000 can not log on window, because forget the password?

The windows has to be reinstalled ( Formatting the Hard Disk ) Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer.
To start the system recovery:
  1. Restart the netbook.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
  5. Select ' completely restore to factory defaults '

Won't boot up sometimes it says a dil is missing or corrupt

It is the begining of the end of Windows. What I suggest is that you backup the data to a different drive and then reinstall Windows. Restore the data from the backup. This way you would not only have a new copy of windows but also be able to check the hard disk for faults or bad sectors.

You can install a software like TuneXP which works out perfectly cleaning your PC's registry, useless files, startup programs, reinstates icons on desktop and lot more. You dont have to take the burden of reinstalling Windows XP again on your laptop after formating.

How to reformat the hard disk of laptop w/o recovery dics?

Reformatting will wipe the drive clean and you will need to reinstall windows, either from the rescue CD or from other media. You may be able to contact Acer and order a replacement CD and install it using the OEM license originally sold with your machine.

If it is merely a problem that programs are not running correctly or that something has corrupted the computer, see if there is a good restore point that you can use from "System Restore." This may allow you to fix the problem and remove the offending program without having to go through the trouble of reformatting and finding the replacement disk.

Finally, since you say that it is Vista, it should be a relatively new machine and it may have a restore partition instead of a rescue disk. If this is the case, there should be a utility in your programs from acer that will allow you to restore the computer to its original form. This will typically reboot the computer and handle the format / reinstall for you. It's possible your friend can't find the disk because he didn't have one.

Just a heads up, typically you can not use a rescue disk from another machine (different make or model) as it will check the hardware configuration before installing the software to make sure it matches the machine the disk shipped with. It is not serial number specific though.

Hope this helps!

Restore to factory default

Perform a system recovery:
Acer computer's do not ship with recovery CD's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or recover.
3 ways to recover:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of Restore
3. If unable to boot into Windows then tap Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen when starting up the computer.
4. This will start the Acer E-recovery program - choose Factory Default Settings and follow instructions.
