SOURCE: charging apc 800va through home generators

The reason of this is the UPS cannot adopt on the frequency that is being generated by your home generator. you should use APC smart ups series coz smart-up series can work on a wider input frequency range.

Battery has a limited life. You must leave the UPS plugged-in all the time and the computer plugged into it.

Well you see it may not charge properly, on the other hand it may just trickle charge it so ok. It will NOT hurt anything though it would just last longer.. providing it gets charged.

SOURCE: Hello, could you please let

The batteries in an UPS are sealed lead acid batteries. The voltage and amp hour rating depends upon the VA rating of your UPS.
I suggest you shut down your UPS and remove the batteries and get replacement ones that are the same rating as the ones in the UPS. Be careful of the size of the battery, they are a neat fit inside the UPS battery compartment.

Computer restarts as soon as power goes off, its not an ups . When i manually turn off the power to the UPS, it switches / relay works fine, but if actually if there is a power outage the relay does not...

Your question is slightly confusing. Do you mean that the computer is not powered by a UPS? If the computer is not connected to the UPS, then why have a UPS? If the computer is not connected to the UPS and restarts when you turn the UPS On, your circuit feeding the UPS is overloaded and the voltage dips. If the computer is connected to the UPS, and restarts when there is a power outage, the fault may lie in the reaction of the HP 800. This unit looks to be a line interactive unit and it is not a true on-line UPS. The line interactive and battery backup (no voltage regulation) units both should have a switch to battery power time of 4 msecs, or less. If this unit is faulty and the switchover time is longer, it will not continue to hold up the computer internal power supply. If you are trying to run a laser printer on the HP unit, it won't have enough output capacity.

My UPS Turns itself off

This advice relates generally to small UPS units.

More than likely it was the UPS that was beeping because it was supplying the power from its inbuilt battery, rather than the CPU. From the model number, I would predict that this particular UPS is an 800VA unit. Presumably it has worked reliably since its original purchase.

You may be experiencing power network disturbances that are resulting in low voltage (otherwise known as 'brownout'). This could be a 'new' or 'temporary' power issue or something that may now be more permanent. Some examples of 'new' issues that can lead to low voltage include: a neighbour operating a large welder, an X-Ray clinic opens next door or the power supply authority incorrectly adjusts transformer output or overloads the grid (new subdivision?). Look for likely external issues and if found address these with the relevant party.

Be aware that an 800VA UPS may only run a PC for 10 -- 15 minutes (not 45 minutes or more) before the battery is flat and the unit shuts down and has to be restarted. It can also take many hours for a battery to fully recharge and if there are repeated demands on the UPS to supply power over this time then the recharge period will be extended.

Also check that you have not overloaded the UPS by connecting any printers or non-computer loads to the battery-backed supply, especially laser printers which can easily overload a small UPS when the fuser operates.

If chronic unresolved low supply voltage is a problem, check the user manual / software. Some UPS manufacturers provide adjustments for the lower voltage threshhold -- i.e. the supply voltage at which the UPS will come online to supply the load. This can be reduced to avoid unnecessary operation of the UPS.

Finally, a typical life for a small UPS battery is around 2 - 3 years. Problems described could be attributed to a failing battery.
