YOU CAN EITHER CONTROL THE LEVELS ON YOUR WASHER BY LOAD SIZE small=less water in the machine, or you can turn your water valves on clockwise

Water coming out of powder tray

Either your water level sensor is not working or if you can test this to be in order then the controller unit is not responding to the input from the level controller unit.

Water will not stop at the right level.

Possible that the water level sensorr had failed. Now if this fault had come after you had replaced the belt it is possible that a damage or a careless fitting was done. So remove and check the water line to the level control sensor. Also check the wire to sensor and to the program controller unit. If this is open the water level will not be detected.

I have a Sears Kenmore washing machine The water does not stop running on any level and over filled the washer. Sears said it wash the timer so i ordered it, replaced it and it still does not stop...

More likely the water level sensor is faulty or blocked..
As the water level rises, air is pressed through a tube which is connected to the water level control knob. If the control is faulty or the hose is diconnected the machine will fill, and overflow.
Best bet is to call a serviceman and have the waterlevel controller checked.... Not a big job..... Good luck.... Nomess

Whirlpool lsr8233e - doesn't sense water level and water comes out of the washer. The must be a water sensor control of some type. Is there a diagram and part to replace.

Try checking the pressure switch it controls level of water by way of pressure switches off valves around the 3-5 psi mark..Think you may find that the hose feeding this is blocked by debris take off and clean 1st,You will see round can type switch with wires on and hose on it.....Check also the chamber feeding the hose @ drum level/

to maintain the water level there will be a level controler called like presostat in the IFB washing machine.and it function is after the water reaches the level this makes the solenoids (which will be called as electric water controler) to close the water line and to open the water line for please check these both the parts are working.

The washer filled up with water and just started to tick, didn't spin, didn't wash. What should I do.

Water level controls - The water level control is also know as a pressure switch, this is where you set the water level ( small - medium - large ). The water level control is responsible to shut off the power to the fill valve and direct that power to the timer so the washing machine can start up. The WLC has electrical contacts in it that sends power to the fill valve and when the WLC is satisfied the water level is correct the electrical contacts open power to the fill valve and send the power to the timer and the washer starts. Picture of this here. How the water level control knows when it is time to shut the water off is, a air tight hose runs from the outer washer tank to the water level control. As the water fills the outer tank air is pushed up the hose, depending on which setting you have made ( small- medium - large ) is takes a certain amount of this pressure to make the WLC cycle over and shut off the water and send this power to the timer. If this hose develops a leak or a pin hole the washer can over fill as the WLC may not be able to shut the water off. The water level control can also break down and allow the washer to over fill as well.
Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter. Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter. Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter.
A couple of tips from readers (Thankx!! ):
~ If you have a loose hose on the water level control or tank end, use a plastic wire tie to help hold the hose tighter and make a tight fit.
~ The water level tube (tube that runs from the square box), access panel on the outer drum where the bleach tube also ends) from the pressure sensor switch (front panel) can become clogged.  Or the two holes from the outer tub into this square box panel on the outside of the outer tub can become clogged. Either clog, I am told by my help repair guy can cause the sensor to think that there is still too much water in the tub and so will not allow motor to activate spin.
~ If the water level control contact is bad, it may also stop the filling ok, but not tell the washer to start agitating.

Kenmore 90 series top loader washer water level.

There are easy checks before you replace the level selector body

remove the trim plates at both ends of the control panel to expose Phillips head screws 1 at each end. remove the screws
lift and swing the control panel up and over the back, it is hinged at the top.
The washer can be operated in this condition for testing

1 Rremove the air hose, and blow it out.
often water remains in the tube after changing levels, the water is not compressible so a small change in water level in the tank, makes too much difference in the sensor.
reconnect the tube and try a cycle ~1/3 chance of fixing it

If fail,
2 The spring inside Kenmore water level sensors that reacts to air pressure in the tube is not up to the job and stretches, not noticeable till changing water level settings moves the anchor point of the spring.
pull off water level knob from control panel front, from control panel back depress lock tab at right of level selector body rotate counter clockwise 45 deg and remove
adjacent to selector knob shaft is 1/8inch nut, turn clockwise to raise water level counter-clockwise to lower water level, test, adjust, test adjust ~1/2chance of fixing it

If fail
replace level selector body

remove phillips screws from bottom corners of contol panel
remove knob from water level selector
raise control panel ~1 inch then flip over backwords on pivots
depress lock tab on righ/underside of water level control body where it touches metal mount plate
rotate water level control body 90deg anticolckwise
pull body off
top side of body next to knob shaft is 1/8 hex head bolt
turn clockwise to rais water level
anticlockwise to lower water level
machine can be operated with this part not fitted so can check level. fill, adjust screw, fill will start again, adjust screw, until water level is correct
