After entering black ink (2nd time ) this printer is showing E-90 error. we turned it off for 15 min and tried again but same thing happening.
would you plz ans me immediately.
Error E90 means that the waste ink pads are deemed to be saturated and need changing. This requires the printer to be dismantled. You can reset the waste ink counter as a temporary measure, but eventually you will start to get ink leaking from the waste ink pad area. The SSC resetting utility is available from here http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml, and the Epson resetter from here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php.
To dismantle the printer you will need the Service Manual. I don't know of a source for a free copy, but if you Google for Epson R250 Service Manual you'll find sources selling it.
From other sources, it appears the E90 error can also be caused by something obstructing the print-head movement. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print starts to move, pull the power lead out of the printer, or turn it off at the mains. The print head should now be free to move by hand. Gently move it backwards and forwards to see if there is any obstruction. Look into the print head parking area on the right - does anything there appear to be causing an obstruction? Report back.
Yes I was wrong - E-91 is the waste ink pad problem. The reason for E90 is not defined, other than contact Epson! So try checking the head movement as above. Otherwise I think it will need to be dismantled to try and find the problem, or, of course, giving it to a technician to look at, or even trying to get help from Epson (some hope).

Hi there All,
Another Solution which can be slightly messy is to lightly dab absorbent kitchen roll paper where the ink pad- sponge is visible,(it is visible, well some of it is) i used a small plastic spatula (about the size of a 10mm width screwdriver blade) plastic is safer, you need to to get in and press, not too hard just enough to get the ink to go into the kitchen paper , you may need a strong light to see while the scanner cover is up, try to hold the kithcen roll in position and you will see the ink being absorbed quite quickly,
i made a mistake while installing a bulk ink system of flooding my printer sponge with a huge ammount of ink, it will take an hour or so to do the job properly and to make sure you get most of the excess ink, leave some kitchen towel in the cartridge carrier too as it can be a problem in there,(dont forget to take it out when you reinstall the ink cartridges)another area you must try to remove the ink is where the cartridge carrier sits in standby to the right, turn off the power by the mains while its doing a system check so you can carefully slide the carrier to the left and under the far right is now exposed so carefully use absorbent kitchen roll and push it onto the sponge, like i said it will take some time and will probably get your hands looking a bit messy,
if it dont work the first time just let the kithen roll paper **** up the ink as much as it can,
this is the second time i have dealt with this problem, the first was a faulty ink cartrige that leaked and i got the E-90 error and just recently a ciss bulk ink system, (my fault) try it , this is providing the ink is still wet,if theres something more absorbant and easier to get in a small area then use that, i just had kitchen paper towel at hand both times, just make sure you remove everything before powering up and introducing new cartridges might save buying a new printer or expensive repair bill, dont despair !
I hope this can help someone in the same jam as i was,
The best of luck,
Steve.
