Cartridge problem Everytime I attempt to print my printer says 1. the printer is busy 2. cartridge problem. Under the heading "cartridge problem" the printer gives me instructions on what to do which are, 1. turn the printer off 2. open the cover 3. turn the printer on 4. remove both cartridges 5. reinsert both cartridges 6. close the cover 7. retry your print job. I have done these things several times in every variation. I am using a different computer than I used to do this on and I am having the same exact problem. Please help.

Sometimes the cartridges are just plain defective, no matter how much they cost. save yourself some grief and just replace both of them and see what happens.

Windows 98, is your operating system, thank you for clearing that up. Windows 98 is very unstable and the most hacked operating system in the hacker community. I recommend trying Ubuntu. Download for free and burn it to a CD-R and reboot to try it. You can always install it later if you enjoy it. It's simple to learn because of the new GUI. Most drivers are automatically configured and I think your printer is supported for Linux (ubuntu).

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Have error code print unable 51 what do I do to clear?

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

      (1) Open the printer
      (2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
      (3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or a mix of hot water and isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
      (4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
      (5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
      (6) Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
      (1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
      (2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.
