Hp 3847 printer lost communication with the computer

When I check in the printers toolbox it tells me printer is offline so I uncheck that box to get the printer online, go to print, and it jumps offline again and gives me a message that the printer lost communication with the computer. I've deleted the printer and reinstalled (done that twice) using the cd that came with the printer. There are no newer drivers or software. I've tried new cartridges all to no avail.

SOURCE: printer shows offline

your next plan of action should be to let the printer reset its self. Unplug the printer for a few minutes then plug it back in. Turn printer on and try to print something. If this does not work then what i would do is use add remove programs and remove the software and drivers for the printer and re install them again. Read and use the manufactures recomended way of installing your new printer. Start off with printer unplugged and usb unplugged then begin as if you bought it brand new. I cant stress enough how important following the manufactures instructions are.

SOURCE: Printer Toolbox Not Recognizing New Black Ink Cartridge

Pop out the cartridge and look inside the printer where the black cartridge goes. There may be punctures in the ribbon cable from the metal wire that rests against the catridge. I have lost 2 6940's to this problem.

SOURCE: Try to print but: get General Printer error 0x61000f6

Hi

This error comes due to carriage jam. Turn off the printer and unplug it from wall socket. Now, remove the cartridges and check for any dried up ink residue on cartridges on inside the carriage. Clean the cartridges contacts and carriage using a Q-tip dipped i alcohol. Let the carriage and cartridges dry before you plug in the printer.
Install the cartridges and check. If it still shows error then unplug the power cord coming to the printer without switching it off. Now, remove the rear door of the printer and check for any paper jams over there, remove if any. Wit for at least 15 seconds and plug in the power cord. Now check whether it is working.

SOURCE: Use Printer Offline: Error Processing Command

Hi,

Go to system settings and select the 'Printer' option.

Right-click on the printer and enable the 'Use Printer Online' function.

Cancel all the printing jobs till that moment and redo the process.

Sometimes the 'Printer Offline' message occurs due to a 'Job Stuck' issue.

Check all network connections and functions.

Be sure the network interfaces work properly.

Turn the printer off and on to see whether the device is working properly.

Printers says it is offline

hi,
Being 'offline' means there is no communication between the printer and your PC.
To change it to 'online' try the following:
  • On the start menu,go to printers and faxes and check out installed printers.
  • Double click on your printer and a window pops up.On this window go to printer on the menu bar and uncheck 'use printer offline'. Try printing now.
  • Still offline?
  • Uninstall the printer[make sure you have installation disk]
  • Unplug the printer from power and your pc too.
  • Plug them back after a few minutes and start installation afresh.
  • After installation restart your pc.
  • Now print!
Worked for me,hope it works for you!
THANK YOU!

    I have a wireless HP 6980 series. Doesn't print.

Is the printer communicating with the computer. If you check the printer in printer set-up, does it show online? Is it greyed out? If so, make sure it is not set to "OffLine" If it is, uncheck it. Are print jobs building up in the print que?

You may also try re-connecting the printer via the USB port to the computer to further test the printer, and rule out remote / communication problems.
