you can try using a DVD cleaner disk on your unit, try several times to make cretin it is clean then try your DVD`s again, if the unit was stored in a damp area this may be a problem, DVD players can be finicky due to this, there may also be a manufacturing defect in the unit that made it fail prematurely.
This tell you, either your lens was defective or your disc is not compatible to your player. Please use disc that you know working good on your player and play. If still fail, we have been narrow down the problem now i.e your player lens. Please get it cleaned with disc lens cleaner and retry your player, If fail again, you need to replace the lens.
You need to use a DVD+R disc or a DVD-R disc to burn a video. It sounds as if you have made a DVD type video and put a CD-R in the slot and your burning software is detecting that and refusing to put the data on the disc, knowing that it wouldn't play on a DVD player. Look at the front of your dvd drive - if it has a "DVD" symbol with an oblong disc below it and says "-R -RW" then you need to use a DVD-R disc. If it has a symbol of a big "RW" then you need a DVD+R disc. If it has both, then you should be able to use either one.
being because getting this gift was for a good reason I would take it back asap, being that it is no longer christmas people are taking back gifts due to them being gifts and no receipt so they will not give you a hard time so please take it back.
I lost my dad a little time ago and I bought it as well with some others and mine is not doing that so do it before it is to late. If you have receipt and it is not 30 days old then take it but if it is 30 days old then go to the store and let them know that it was a gift and you would just like to trade it for another one. they will give you no problems
Sounds like something may be stuck inside the unit. If there is no warranty left, UNPLUG the device from the mains, undo the 2 or 4 screws on the sides of the unit, lift off the lid and just look to see if there is a foreign object inside or a DVD,(if at some point one of the kids put 2 Discs in and closed it, one of them could have got pushed over the top of the drive and got jammed), remove it and put the lid back on. Just make sure you don't touch or fiddle with any thing inside as not to damage it further. Another possibility is that something is stuck to laser lens which you will only be able to see if you take the lid off. DANGER WARNING do not take the lid off in the same room as the kids, or they WILL do it themselves, when you are not about.
The cd tray eject after put in the DVD movies, but VCD working fine...it is means that the drive's region code haven't set yet .(please refer to user manual to setting the region code) ..or unplug the recorder drive from the dvd player, using the computer setting to change the region code by connecting to computer's IDE cable .
is the dvd a store bought disc or a burnt dvd? If the disc is a store bought disc I unfortunately can't help you. But if the dvd you are trying to play is burned from dvd burner you are most likely using the wrong type of burnable dvd.
There are two types of dvd's you can burn, DVD-R and DVD+R. You need to make sure which one you dvd player can play, some play one or the other, some play both. I have also heard of some older ones that can't play any type of burned disc.
Hope that helps
