Did You Checked The Conection betwhen your Motherboard and Display ?Did you correctly connect it? Try opening the bezel at top of the keyboard, in the zone of the power button, and try to locate the cable and move it, if the connection seems okey, it is possibly that you need to replace the entire cable
I have the same problem, It works at an external display and the lcd and lcd cable work on another laptop. The problem is that i have a sony vaio and it has no inverter, or at least i dont see one like an hp laptop for example. i tried to switch image from external monitor to lcd and it doesnt work. i tried everything. dont know what to do more, Hope you can help. I have a Sony Vaio pcg-61813M. Thanks.
Connect an external monitor to the video connector on the laptop and bootup the laptop. If you don't get an image on the external monitor then press the blue Fn key plus the one of the function keys with the screen/monitor symbol, (this toggles the display between the LCD and external video connector).
If you cannot get an image then the you have a faulty video card. The video card is part of the motherboard and cannot be fixed, you have to get a replacement motherboard.
When you boot up without the external monitor and you look at the LCD from an acute angle and you can see a slight and dark image, this indicates you have a backlight problem.
The image on the external monitor indicates that you have a faulty inverter that provides power for the backlight panel or a faulty backlight panel, the inverter and the LCD panel can be replaced fairly easily but it is not cheap, but it would be cheaper that buying a new laptop.
If the external monitor works and you can use it this way, this would be the cheapest option, but it would not be portable.
seems to me like your acer laptop's display is configured " extend my desktop to this monitor", that's why you can only see the desktop background. Go to your display properties and change it to clone display or uncheck the extend display option.
