SOURCE: I am unable to run chkdsk from the dos prompt

You can run it in the operating system, but it will run on reboot only as the O.S. locks the drive you are using
chkdsk /f will run a full check for you, also you can do a more thorough check and recovery from my computer, right click the drive and select properties, open the tools tab and pick what you need to do, the drive will be checked on next reboot.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a netbook

I'm afraid that you'll have to get some installation disks for an operating system and boot from it using an external DVD drive (for Windows 7 for instance). If System Recovery doesn't proceed, that's the only way I know to load an operating system.

Cannot load Windows 7 from hard drive. Possible with recovery discs.

Run the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Bootmgr is missing

Never, Ever, Never, buy a another computer without a cd drive or you'll be faced with your current situation.

I don't know exactly how you are going to get this done because you need a cd drive to do it. If somehow you can get to a dos prompt you might be able to fix it and run the steps below.

You will need a operating system disk or a repair disk to fix it. Insert it in the drive then boot from it. You want to get to a dos command prompt (black screen with white lettering) and type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.
bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot
bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

Reboot and see if the problem is solved. If not get back to the dos command prompt and run the check disk utility.

System Recovery is Factory Settings. Did you make the System Recovery Disk or are you trying to use the Recovery Partition that the manufacturer put on your hard drive?

No, windows 7 dvd will not work with xp. You will need a xp system disc to fix this. Boot from the xp operating system disc and when it comes up click Repair. When the dos command prompt comes up run the check disk utility.

OXOOOOOOA5 (OXOOO1OOOA OXOOOOOOOO,OXOOOOOOOO,OXOOOOOOOO)

This looks like the codes from a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). If so you will need a system disk to boot from and get to a dos command prompt (black screen with white writing) and type the following command:
chkdsk /r
Check Disk Repair will run for well over an hour and you will see the percentage of completion going from high to low but that is normal. Let it run to completion and then reboot.

In Windows XP to get to the dos command prompt boot from the system disk and when the options come up select Repair. Select 1 for the Windows Operating System and when it asks for the Administrator Password just press enter.

In Windows Vista to get to the dos command prompt boot from the system disk and when the options screen open you could try a startup repair. If it fails look the dos command at the bottom of the Recovery Console.
