Dishes come ot just like I put them in

I turned on the machine and the lights come on and it goes thru the cycles The water comes in and drains out but the dishes dont look like they have even been wet. The detergent door is open and detergent is gone but the dishes are dirty. I think to myself I forgot to turn the thing on.... so I hit the buttons again and come back later to the same thing dirty dishes and I know I turned it on this time. What is going on?

the dishes are not wet I dont think the spray bars are turning

  • Vickie Jan 29, 2009

water comes in and goes out I dont hear any water splashing and there is no water touching the dishes, I have opened the door in the middle of the cycle and the dishes are not wet, took off the spray bars and cleaned them and put them back on, still no water spashing in the machine but it will go thru all the cycles and drain the water.

Check that both spray bars are turning. They can both be easily removed.

Once removed, make sure they are not clogged with stuff to prevent them from turning.

I assume you can hear water spraying around inside when it's washing, and that the dishes do get wet, and water does get hot.

Soap dispenser requires water hitting on it to open.

If dishes are hot, then they probably won't be wet as the unit has gone through a dry cycle.

You need to check that water flows into the unit at the various times in the cycle.

Please confirm more info to me and I will be happy to work with you to fix this unit.

    OK. Now we're getting somewhere.

The upper basket can be in a full up, or full down position. There are two holes in the back of the dishwasher for a pipe on the upper basket to slide into.
Does the pipe penetrate the water duct on the back wall where one of the two holes is located?

I just put one of these in for my daughter and son-in law about a month ago, but I dont' remember exact details. Am looking at the manual.

Let me know what you see.

OK. Do you ever hear the motor run when the unit is supposed to be washing? I'm sure you hear the water pump out, but that's a different pump.

On the left hand side of the water duct, near where the holes were, there should be a device that hangs on the duct. It's called a Over pressure filter. Looks to be triangular shaped.

If you hear the motor run (above), also check that there are no accumulated food products around the inside of the plastic pieces at the bottom of the unit. You may need to remove some of the plastic pieces to see if anything is down there. Be careful though, at some point, when you remove the screws, the motor will drop out the bottom of the unit. No big deal, but depending on how old the dishwasher is, you may have to replace the gasket if you reassemble and it leaks.

To really access the pump impeller, you will need to remove the lower spray bar, then remove the three screws holding about a 10 inch diameter plastic ring around the pump. Then there will be a small housing that partly overlays the water duct up the back. Get that off, then you should be able to inspect the impeller, and confirm the water duct is all clear.

Why doesn't it work?

is the blue light a loading light ???(light that shines inside too allow you too see ) next all washers mfg after 2010 have a drain cycle after there first started , some of these can be mighty quiet almost imperceptible to hear , if you allow it to continue it will next add water and start to wash (if working properly) , the drain cycle was added because it was found out that everyone was prewashing dishes (silly I know) and then adding them to machine, this ,made for a lot of water runoff and then machine wasn't adding enough water for a total wash cycle , so mfg all figured it best to add a drain cycle first to all there washers

Fills with water and drains does a few times goes thru complete cycle but washer never washs, water does not spray dishes. Soap dispenser opens.

1st check for food build up under the filter, just shine a flash light through the holes front left side at the edge of your filter. This area is the water intake for the wash arms.

Doesn't wash dishes properly and leaves some soap powder in holder

water is there enough in there and if so does is syphon out after a while, my guess is the drain goes down thru the floor, not good if it does

Won't wash dishes

Interrupt the power to the unit by flipping the appropriate breaker off in the house electrical panel for several minutes, then back on. If this doesn't help, then likely the control module is in trouble and needs to be replaced.

Dish Washer retains the water without draining....

the drain pump is fairly easy to replace. it locks into place beside the sump and motor. push tab in and rotate pump to pull out. you will lose water so have a towel handy. inspect drain hose for restrictions or kinks.

Machine runs through cycle but does not wash dishes

It sound like a pump issue. The pump is attached to the motor and forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. Look if the pump's impeller (a round plastic fan blade-type of device) spins around. In case it doesn't spin, look if it doesn't blocked or stuck from any other reason. Good luck

Brand new dishwasher not working

try this test: add water (one gallon each try) by hand fill and try the cycle again. Continue until light goes out. If light never goes out, then faulty water level switch or wiring. If light goes out, then water inlet valve is stopping too early, but need more info to determine why. Try this test: open door and find the door switch. Then activate the switch and turn on machine to watch water come in. It should not just "dribble" in; try to determine if water pressure is sufficient coming in.
