Can you look into the paper tray and actually see if the feed rolls are turning? You may have either a bad paper feed clutch, or the solonoid that releases the feed rollers is bad.
Also the paper tray should move up and down when the paper feeds to move the paper against the rollers. Up to feed down to eliminate paper drag. One of those fingers that raise the tray may be binding against the bottom of the tray not allowing proper movement.
If you can get a flash light and observe what is going on. Then let me know.

What is error 5100?

The 5100 error could be related to several issues. Some are easy to fix; others require the printer be serviced. First open the printer and check for foreign objects (like the packing material). This requires you to open the paper output tray and then lift the entire scanning unit and set the support. While it is open, also check that ink cartridges are correctly seated.

Check that there is no paper jams in the unit (at any point, including the rear tray). Note: torn pieces of paper and small items can be hard to see. A flashlight can help. (With the printer off and unplugged, slide the ink cartridge carrier to one side of the printer and then the other to check in the corners of the printer.) Check the automatic document feeder for paper jams as well. This requires opening the document feeder cover and the transport cover.

The final step that you can try is resetting the printer. Turn off the printer. If you are using a wired connection between the computer and the printer (or router to printer), you'll need to unplug the data cable from both pieces of hardware. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the outlet. Wait 10 minutes before reconnecting power and then the data cable.

If this doesn't help, contact Canon for service if your printer is still under warranty. If it is out of warranty, decide if it is worth having the unit serviced.

Please help with cannon PIXMA MP150 printer problem, when trying to print, It reads that paper is jammed but I've checked several times and no paper is jammed. Printer will not print due to this...

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Paper jam means their may be small bit paper jam in side
, actually there are some "micro sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper inside those sensors, thus tripping the sensor and paper jammed keeps coming up.
To solve this first of all Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder
, If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon Printers service provider.

I hope this solution helps you

I HAVE A CANON PIXMA MP830 INK JET PRINTER WHICH HAS A PAPER JAM CAN YOU HELP

Hi,

Here are the basic steps that can resolve your issue.

- Paper jam in the Paper feeder or in the output slot
pull out the paper slowly, if the paper tears open the printer cover(scanning unit) and remove the paper (careful not to touch any printer components) after removing the paper restart the printer, then redo the printing process.

-Paper jam inside the machine
Open the rear cover, if you seen the paper remove it, then close the back cover then restart the printer and redo the printing process, if your unable to get the paper from the rear cover, open the casette infront of the printer and slowly pull out the paper, return the casette and restart the machine..

If your still unable to get the paper,
remove the casette, stand the machine with the left side on the buttom (make sure its not the right side) pull out the paper while pulling the green cover toward you, return the casette, restart the machine and redo the printing.

If your having difficulties or still unable to remove the paper contact the canon support center in your area.

Here is a link where you can see visual step by step procedures.

I hope this will help you a lot.

Thank you for choosing fixya.

Canon mp470 keeps telling me there is a paper jam

Hello my friend, first thing we are going to check is if its a jam inside from a foreign object. So
  1. Power the printer off.

  2. Open the paper support and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the auto sheet feeder.
  3. Open the scanning unit (printer cover) and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the printer.
  4. Close the scanning unit (printer cover).
  5. Power the printer on and confirm that the printer operates normally.
But in this procedure be very careful and don't push hard anything!

Paper jam in canon MP600 Printer

If you cannot see the paper jam, perhaps it is inside the machine:

1) Open the rear cover and inspect the area for any bits of paper that might impede the paper path

2) On the front of the machine, pull out the cassette (paper tray) and inspect the cassette area for any paper jammed inside.

Paper jam

This model has 5 places where you might encounter jammed paper. Since you said you cannot see it, I suspect that it may be one of the following:

1) Inside from the front - (This is a similar to accessing the print cartridges). Raise the scanning unit until it stops (cartridges move to the center). Open the two inner covers. Gently clear the jam. Try not to touch the printer components. Close both inner covers, lower the scanning unit. Press <OK>

2) Inside transport unit - Open the rear cover. Remove the jammed paper or any bits that you may find. Close the rear cover. Press <OK>
