If all the teeth of the length of the zipper are snapped together, it is closed and the pull piece is all the way at the ends of the two matching sections. It appears jammed at that point, right? If so you may need to use a little muscle to pull the end links one way and the zipper tab the other. A pair of plyers sure could help.

Using an invisible zip foot my machine jams after a few stitches. It doesn't jam with any other foot, and when I sewed with the foot on a scrap of fabric with no zip as a test

Make sure that the needle is not too close to the zipper coils. Also, that the needle is not hitting part of the presser foot. Sounds like the needle is most likely encountering the zipper coils which are deflecting the needle. Move the coil further away from the needle.

I am trying to insert a zip. The needle is not moving far enough to the left or right so that it doesn't hit the zipper foot. Please help

try using a 1/2 foot as this will allow the needle to get close to the edge or zip

My zipper on my jacket wont zip up.

Make sure it is properly hooked at the bottom. Get a cake of soap and rub it on all the zipper teeth. Carefully and slowly try to ease the zipper up. Also, make sure there is no material caught in it.

Got bernina 1015 sport sewing machinewith one foot want to buy zip, buttonhole &overlock foot is ther a special number or do all bernina feet fit al types of bernina machines

This machine uses 'New style' snap on feet. The reason it is 'new' is because old style Bernina feet are the complete foot, whereas new style you just 'snap on' the foot base.

Ebay is the best place to find original Bernina feet at very reasonable prices. I recently purchased a solid steel 'old style' foot from UK for U.S. $28.

When purchasing zipper feet, decide if you want regular zipper foot or invisible zipper foot. Often it is cheaper to order both at the same time, due to S&H fees.

How to sew in a zip? with Empisal dress maker 270

Sewing in a zipper is a fairly easy process, though a bit hard to explain in words :) You need an iron, pins and a zipper foot for your machine. The zipper foot allows the needle to get close enough to the teeth of the zipper without the foot getting hung up by the teeth.

The best thing to do in order to understand the process if you've never done one before is to look a a video on youtube and watch how a zipper is put in. Here is one link that shows how to insert a zipper ...but there are several others too. Some show specifically "invisible zippers", some show side seam zippers and others show how to put one in where you have a waste band. When you get to the link above look to the right side of the page where you will see other videos to pick from too.

There are lots of interesting sewing videos on youtube. You'll note that though the process is basically the same different seamstresses have different tricks for getting a straight and tidy looking zipper.

Would you please advise how I put a zipper foot on my brother bm-3600, the needle will not align with the foot when I put the foot down! Thank you.

Did a google image search, this looks like a newish machine so I'd assume clip on feet?

Put the foot on the pressure plate, lower the foot on and align so it clicks into place.

Couldn't get an image of the foot but many zipper feet are designed to mount either left or right side of the foot so you can sew both edges of the zip in the same direction, ie pressure foot to left of the needle for one side, and to the right of the needle for the other side of the zip, you want to stitch in the same direction to avoid creeping.

Some machines you change the change the needle position to the left or right in order to get up close to the zipper foot.

Probably a manual would assist explaining this better, if you don't have one for the machine, I'd suggest that you obtain one.
