Check for loose connections. Is this a new sub woofer? Or have you had it for a while?

This is brand new, only had it for about 3 days now. One clue I discovered might be this: whenever I lower the brightness of the monitor the hissing gets WAY louder. I don't understand the connection between the screen brightness and the subwoofer hissing. very strange to me.

How is the subwoofer powered? It sounds like a grounding issue somewhere.

  • richard Jan 24, 2013

It's just plugged into my wall, I tried different outlets around the house with the same result. Should I be using a power strip?

You may be able to use a UPS or you could try a ferrite bead. The ferrite bead obviously being the cheaper way to go.

Vizio tv prolems. TV comes on normal for about 10 seconds (bright w/ colors) then picture dims with a hissing sound from the electronics. Anyone has an idea of a repair video to watch.

The hissing sound is over current from a shorted component. you best bet is to call around and see if anyone can repair it. Ask price first because you might be better off just buying a new one.

The soundbar usually connects to the optical out from the TV to the in on the soundbar. Subwoofer has to be paired to the soundbar. Instructions should explain or maybe find online by manufacturer

My 210 visio sound bar keeps losing volume then come back on then goes back off

You will need to take the following steps to ensure that the Vizio wireless subwoofer is working properly:1) You will want to make sure that the subwoofer is in the line of sight of the Vizio sound bar.
2) Ensure the Vizio wireless subwoofer is not beyond 60 ft. away from the sound bar.3) Unplug both the Vizio sound bar and the Vizio wireless subwoofer for 30 seconds and then plug back in.4) Try re-pairing the devices. Pairing works best when you have the devices facing each other about a foot apart during initial pairing, once they are paired you can move them to your desired location.

There is a "hissing" sound on low volume. Whazzup?

Do you have a cable box connected to it? I'm sure you do .. You might have the TV or the cable box at max volume ..

If you are using the TV as the main volume control try to lower the volume from the cable box, maybe to mid volume.

If you are using the Cable box as the main volume try doing the opposite from the above..

Hope this helps.

Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
Please post back what you find.

My Tannoy Active monitors are connected to a Mackie 1202 VLZ mixer and have a distinct "hiss"... any idea how to remedy this situation?

Check the gain structure through the board.
Check all the mix bus assignmentsie what is routed to the masters.
Normally hiss can be reduced with good gain structure and ensuring all not being used is correctly turned off.
Test the speakers with another suitable source
If the speaker are less hissy on the alt source and you have checked all the mixer gains and eq, it is possible the board is noisy because of some component failure. Try audio isolation transformers on the output of the board, beg or borrow a good quality pair first to test, as they are expensive.

Thanks for using FixYa, I hope this if its useful

Audio on videos terribly noisy and hissy

Low-res audio and AVI video is probably the best you're going to get. It is a still camera first, after all.
