My furnace works but their is a humming coming from the transformer when it shuts off

Call an electricist. You might have some serious problem in the transformer. That ·humming" sound might be the transformer burning out!

Light transformer problems

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

Transformers get hot when the load side sees a short (0 ohms) or very little resistance. V = I R or I = V / R. The voltage is a constant. As the resistance approaches 0, the current draw soars heating up both windings in the transformer.

Your transformer has an over temp sensor that shuts down the supply side before the transformer bursts into flames.

Find the short or replace the device. YESTERDAY!

Home stereo Phillip 708/37 is not getting power.i was told that I need to replace the transformer.cam you advise me how?

maybe not, are the fuses ok ? check fuses, make sure they are ok, also some transformers has a thermistor in between the winding of the transformer in series with the primary winding. Phillip do make their transformers with that kind of protection, just in case the transformer over heat it shuts down. examine the transformer look for the thermistor it is open.

Malibu transformer shuts down early

Well, you're overloading the transformer by 30 watts. It's doing what it's supposed to do when overloaded...shut down. It's the _other_ (works fine) transformer that you should worry about possibly starting a fire, since it's not shutting down when overloaded.

Microwave shuts off after a few seconds.

I am surprised that the GE seervice tech did not explain to you why the microwave will still cook. By saying that transformer is damaged or shot really means that the internal windings may be shorted together so the transformer no longer has as many good windings to produce the original power it did when it was new. That is pretty clear. It will still function a little but the protection circuits inside the microwave would start to shut it down when it overloads by trying to pull more current than the windings inside the transformer can handle. You can replace the transformer yourself if you are a do it yourselfer and are confident around unplugging the transformer with All Power Off and unscrewing a couple of screws that hold it in place. It is pretty straightforward you just need to find the correct transformer (maybe you can buy one from GE or go to www.mwoparts.com which carry all the parts in microwaves for all models especially name brands like yours. Taking the cover off is of course easy. Good luck. Let me know how you do or if I can help you in any other way.
