On one cycle the washing machine would not spin. I then tried another cycle. The other worked for about 2 weeks just fine. Before I went to bed last night I put on another load and luckily went to check on it and water was everywhere. The washer would not stop adding water and it over flowed everywhere and would not stop. We had to turn the water valve off.

There is a clear plastic hose that runs from the load selection switch to the side of the washer drum. This hose connects the fill sensor to the load switch. without it being in good condition and connected properly the washer won,t get a signal that it's full.

The lid switch is probably out. Bypass it and see if she magically comes to life. Their are 3 wires to the lid switch 2 of which are live wires. Jumper them 2 live wires and see if she runs in spin.

Kenmore series 80 washing machine overfills, it will not start washing, it just fills and runs over

Hi, The first part to check is the inlet valve. If you shut the washer off, will the water stop? If the water continues when the power is off to the washer, change the inlet/mixer valve.
If the water stops filling when the power to thee washer is shut off, the water level switch needs checked.
Please let em know if either of these help so I can assist you further.

You need to replace the Kenmore Washer Lid Switch. I had the same problem so being lazy I would just push down on the washer's lid and it would push the lid switch further down. making the water drain. after a while I just replaced the lid switch.
