Yes, they see each other! But display in camera's viewing pane not quite the same as usual, and instead of the usual-looking folder of pics I'm shown an empty external memory folder. Yet it will show me all the pics that are on that external memory but in extremely low res! They all look OK in the camera's viewing pane, and I know they are because a few have been previously downloaded. (I just hadn't got round to deleting them from the camera!) This just suddenly started happening, for no apparent (to me!) reason! Thanks for your help! Ann

Blame Microsoft updates. Try using a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

Trouble dowloading pictures

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Viewing images on computer as they are taken

The P100 is not designed for tethered shooting. You can connect it to a computer to transfer pictures after they're taken, and to charge the battery. You could use an Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures as soon as they're taken, but again that's after you've taken the picture.

How do I transfer pics from my pc back on to my fuji S5700 camera

You'll need to use a card reader. Once the memory card is in a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB), the card will appear to the computer as another external hard drive, and you can copy files to it the same way you usually copy files.
Be aware that if you've done any editing of the pics (opening a pic in a photo editor and then saving it without doing anything counts as editing), the camera most likely won't display it.

How do I reset the JPG file name back to 1 on my Kodak C183.... I've taken hundreds of photo's and it keeps incrementing the file name by 1 everytime I take a photo -- I need to track what number...

I must advise against doing that. If you do, every time you try to download pics to the computer, it will think you've already downloaded pics with those numbers and either refuse to do it or it will erase the previous pics to make room for the new ones.

I had taken around 80 photos on my camera Saturday night. Somehow, they all got deleted, I googled it last night and it told me to downloaded something to put the pics on my laptop from the memory card....

Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Recommend that you try MiniTools listed on the site first.

Camper says internal memory is full and i have only taken 12 pics. i think there might be "protected" pics. but i don't even know how to protect pics or to un protect them.

Digital cameras that come with internal memory usually have a very small amount of storage capacity (usually 32 or 64MB). I'm not sure why the manufacturers even bother with internal storage when you can get memory cards that have much more capacity. You need to either download the photos you've taken to your PC and then delete the photos so you can take more shots, or you need to insert a memory card. Depending on your model of camera you need a microSD or SD card. Let me know the model number of the camera and I will tell you what you need to get.

Hope this helps!

SAVE YOUR PIC TO YOUR COMPUTER , REMOVE THE MEMORY CARD AND IN THE SETTINGS SECTION FORMAT THE MEMORY. THIS HAS TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. BETTER USE A MEMORY CARD TO TAKE PICTURES.

My camera finepixA820 can't show any pics.and can't show stored pics.what can i do to make it shows up again?

Usually this is caused by a corrupt memory card. This can be causes by a large variety of things, such as but not limited to, exposure to extreme cold or heat, as well as turning the camera off before the image last taken has finished encoding to the card. Try to put the card into a computer and see if the files show up there, if not then the files are gone for good, and your only real fix is most likely going to be getting a new memory card.
Hope this helped,
Eric

Camera takes a few low resolution pictures even when the settings are for high res pictures

You should take your camera to service.

Normal cameras are meant to work above 0 deg C (32 deg F), but usually they work even at -15 C (5 F). When you work below the freeze point there may some anomalies, usually LCD turns blue or purple but photos look OK on a computer. Sometimes the camera refuses to take photos or shows bad focus, lens zoom mechanics get stuck etc. And you always experience significantly shorter battery life when in the cold.

It's a good idea to keep the camera in a warm bag and take it out before shooting. You can also keep it under your coat if you're not practicing a sport like skiing (because of body moisture).
