Developer power cannot put over the Magnet roller correctly. some gabe on the magnet roller

It sounds like either you contaminated the mag roller or there is a loose connection that causes the mag roller to charge. You might have to just order a new developing unit.

. Might want to have the developer replaced and drum/cleaning blade normally done all together, then run the F8 procedure/Developer Charge, and make sure the counters where cleared. Did you recently replace the drum and the developer if so did you clear the counters for the drum and developer, FIRST? IF not then the copier thinks the new drum and new developer are old. The copier works on the counters that is how it knows it got a new drum and developer. Get new developer and a new drum and have it installed correctly. Counters are clear before the unit is yanked out of the machine, then you remove the image unit/drum unit replace the developer/drum and cleaning blade. (DO NOT USE A VACUUM CLEANER WHEN REPLACING THE DEVELOPER static electricity can destroy the sensor located below the developer unit. Then reinstall and RUN F8/Developer Charge. Make sure the fax line and Ethernet cable is removed can't print anything until the F8 is run. Or you will start all over again with new developer and a new drum.

Black developing unit fault, has the black developer been replaced? Was it replaced correctly, with required counters cleared and proper test run after install? Was who ever installed new developer using a vacuum cleaner? If so might have destroyed the sensor located below the developer unit. (NEVER EVER USE A VACUUM CLEANER TO REMOVE DEVELOPER STATIC ELECTRICTY can destroy the ATDC (Automatic Toner Density Control) sensor. Toner mixes with the developer, on any Developer unit. So could have a bad sensor or control board. As for the counters if the developer was replaced but counters not properly cleared then copier thinks the developer is old and will adjust voltage as required when in fact new developer is installed and messing with image issues. KONICAMINOLTA PRODUCTION PRINT MACHINES USE THOSE COUNTERS!!!!!!!!!

    Oct 07, 2013 | Minolta C250 Color Copier

    1 Answer

What is the difference between the toner and developer on this printer? The manuals we have don't give any info on installing developer, but you can purchase both toner and developer for this...

Toner provides the color, Developer consists of magnetic particles that carry the color on the outside of the developer drum, which is magnetic. Some developer is lost on each copy, although most stays in the developer unit. When you run low on developer, your image gets lighter and lighter, until the machine reports an error because it can no longer self calibrate. One change of developer suffices for many changes of toner. There is a procedure involving various actions and codes to flush the developer material out and load new developer in. This is not difficult, but there are a couple of reasons you might not want to do it if you are unsure why or if you should. First, developer for these estudio copiers, is very expensive. Second, unless you know how many copies have been made on the existing developer, you might change the developer, and fail to correct the problem. There are related service items, involving the cleaning blades, and seals, servicing charging grids, corona wire, and general cleaning of the 4 developer units and opc drums. Including dusting with zinc sterate, etc., etc. Its hard to know where to begin or where to stop. If you really want to know all about it, order a manual from any of a variety of on-line sources. Good luck

Change the developer in afficio 450

    To remove the Dev. unit.
    1. Open the right upper cover and front cover.
    2. PCU. (☛ 3.11.1)
NOTE: Spread paper on a clean flat surface that is free of pins, paper clips,
staples, screws or any other metal objects.
    3. Loosen [A] (! x1)
    4. Rotate bracket [B] left.
    5. Development unit [C]
NOTE: Pull slowly to avoid scratching or nicking the development roller.
    6. Set the development unit on the spread paper.
    7. If you are temporarily installing a used development unit for test purposes,
perform SP2-220 and 2-802-1 after installation (☛ Chapter 5, “Service Tables)

    Replacing the Dev. material.
    1. Development unit (☛ 3.12.1)
    2. Remove the development roller (☛ 3.12.3)
    3. Empty toner [A]
    4. Turn drive gear [B] to ensure that no developer remains in the unit or on the
    developer roller.
NOTE: Dispose of the used developer in accordance with local regulations.
Work carefully to avoid scratching or nicking the development roller.
    5. Pour approximately 1/3 of the developer [C] evenly along the length of the
    development unit.
    6. Rotate the drive gear [D] to work the developer into the unit. Repeat [C] and [D]
until all toner is in the unit and level with the edges.
    7. Reassemble the development unit
    8. Cover the toner entrance hole [A] with a piece of paper.
    9. Install the development unit in the machine.
    10. Turn on the main power switch, make sure that the machine has warmed up,
then perform the TD sensor initial setting using SP 2-801.
NOTE: When performing this setting, cover the toner entrance hole with a
piece of paper. This prevents used toner falling from the PCU into the
development unit during the TD sensor initial setting and interfering
with the Vref setting (toner density reference voltage).
    11. After performing the TD sensor initial setting, remove the sheet [A] from the development unit.

This is how you replace and reset (calibrate) the new Dev. material.

I am going to answer this even though there was no reply to my clarification report.

No, it is not a HVPS problem. This is a magenta developer problem. The magenta developer for some reason has the highest failure rate of all the developers, including black. Perhaps because there are more shades of magenta in color prints.

Since you changed the toner, we can assume you are not out of magenta, but it is possible that you did not run a developer cleaning in the maintenance mode on the magenta developer.

If the magenta toner had been allowed to run out all of the way, a developer cleaning would allow the toner auger to move fresh toner from the toner dispenser, through the feed tube, into the developer.

If you have run the developer cleaning, and you can see that there is magena toner on the magenta developer ( for clarification, the developers are located behind the imaging drum. remove the drum to expose the 4 developers ), then the developer itself is defective.

    Good luck.
