I need 32 inch LG TV flat screen when I turned on it only stays on about 1 minute and then it was shut off

Hi there, the usual cause of this problem would be a fault with the power supply pcb. The capacitors usually fail, causing the output voltages to become unstable and low and thus shutting the set down. Identifying them is easy as they will have a bloated appearance. Other than that, if it is an older set that has ccfl bulbs for back-lighting then there could be faults either with the inverter PCB that powers the lights, or a faulty bulb within the LCD panel, which usually means a complete screen replacement would be necessary.

If you do not already know where your problem is then Check for 12 volts DC (AC-off detect) at pin 3 of PC9A21, if missing replace PC9A21 part # 268P058020 on the Power PCB. LED does not blink at plug in. Check for 5-volts DC at connector RF pin 3 (system reset) if low or missing suspect the reset switch S7L20 part # 432P089010 on the Control PCB. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. This model is equipped with a keyboard lock feature; this can be mistaken as a no power condition. To unlock the keyboard press and hold the "menu" button on the front panel for 10 seconds . LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Check for 4.7 volts DC at connector RF pin 4 and 5 on the Signal PCB if low suspect problems with the switches/buttons on the Control PCB part # 935D587002 5. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Keyboard is not locked and key inputs at connector RF pin 4 and 5 check good suspect the E2P PCB part # 935C978002 . Also if you can do a self diagnosis test by pressing the device and menu for 5 sec on panel of set and read the error codes.

Marantz 4220 Power Switch Dear experts Some time ago when unit switched on cracking noises in speakers started. But now exept ligting up no sound is comming just little when volume turned up.What could...

The Amplifier was failing and that's why you were getting the crackling noise.

Most receivers have an Auto Protect that shuts the system down and goes into Protect mode at the first signs of failure or overheating, usually indication by 'Protect' on the display.

I'm presuming from your post that you never got any indication that the unit was shutting down to protect itself and has just failed, so I'm presuming that this facility isn't fitted on this model.

Depending on you Technical ability it could be an easy repair (replacing the complete PCB or some PCB components). Your only other solution is a visit to a service engineer.

Our nearly 2 year old TV runs fine for an hour or so then it just shuts off. The on/off light flashes and the TV tries to come back on. If we turn off the TV for 5 minutes and then turn it back on it...

Your power supply is going out. If you are familiar with electronics it is an easy fix right now. The electrolytic capacitors on the power PCB (printed circuit board) are drying out, they are easy to spot. Make sure you unplug the TV, remove the back cover, then the power supply PCB is the one the power cord connects to. You should wait a few minutes after unplugging the TV as some capacitors keep some "juice" after the TV is off. Now look at the capacitors (they look like small sized barrels or cylinders), you might notice bulged tops (flat ones are usually ok). capacitors have values in capacitance (microfarads) and ratings in voltages for example: 1000 microfarads/150 volts. The replacements must match both parameters and size if the space is limited.
Capacitance checking with a multimeter that features this option is easy and fast, and will provide you with a better indication of pass/fail. Try MCM electronics for those capacitors. (just Google it).
If not comfortable, call a professional in your city. Other way to go allitle more expensive is to purchase the complete power supply PCB (10-20 times as expensive).
Good luck!

TV will not turn on 2-1 and 2-2 error. ws65807

Mitsi has this information posted in regards to the 2 errors you have indicated. "2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies)" Also these 3 tech notes were found. "1. SELF- DIAGNOSIS INDICATE X-RAY. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC5A03 PART # 270P704010 AND AN OPEN R5A73 82K ¼ WATT OFF PIN 2 OF IC5A02 ON THE MAIN PCB.

2. SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT.

3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB."
I hope this points you in the right direction.

A dead set (no picture no sound) can indicate any number of problems – Usually the set is in shutdown or protection mode – this means that the internal circuits have detected a problem with a supply voltage missing, drawing too much current, going over voltage or a short condition.
The first thing to do is power off the set unplug it for 5min. than replug and try again. This in effect resets the main micro and will sometime unlatch a fault and resume working. There are certain common problems based on the make model – for instance convergence output IC’s can cause a dead set symptom in many models. Vertical output IC failure can also cause the same symptom.
The only way to determine the real cause is #1 an educated guess based on experience or by directly troubleshooting the set – checking fuses, measuring voltages and checking for shorts. Many of the intermittent problems such as, int.(Intermittent) no sound or picture, int. picture shrunken or misshaped. These problems are generally due to cold (bad) solder joints that break down under slight temperature changes or vibration and are usually verified by physically tapping the suspected area on the circuit board, or by quickly heating or cooling a suspected component or area ( cold spray and hot air gun). The other main culprit is leaky or dried out capacitors or capacitors that change value depending on temperature. These can sometimes be seen as bulged or leaky and have an acrid odour.

The educated guess for this make/model is #1comb filter pcb capacitors,#2 vertical o/p ic failure or #3 general power supply or deflection cold solders.

Correct voltage for lamp connection?

(Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977020 3. (Lamp may light and go out) Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977020 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977020 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. In my 20 years of working on microwaves, I have never seen a capacitor fail in any way but a dead short, but it's possible that it's failure may occur in a less abrupt manner. The internal structure of a capacitor is essentially a rolled up sandwich consisting of two thin layers of foil separated by a very thin insulator. While a "perfect" capacitor consumes no power, in the real world, things can happen to change that. A defect could increase the capacitve reactance or other internal resistance and allow internal heat buildup or expansion, which could lead to an intermittent short when it's warmed up a bit. After a while, the short could become permanent - sort of like arc welding, if you're familiar with that. So, while it's quite possible that this is the pathology that lead to a fully shorted capacitor, I think that's what you have, no matter how it happened.
