Connecting antenna -- No Signal

I have a TruTech 19", PLV311995 (or s) 1, flatscreen TV/DVD. I can't find the manual (of course). I have a new RCA antenna, have hooked it to the TV in correct port, plugged both in, and can't get a signal. I'm sure there is one setting I don't know, help please.

PS: I know the TV works because it was hooked to Direct TV until a larger set replaced it.

Before step 1 in the quick installation the instructions say Make sure the RF aerial has been connected. Was I supposed to buy a RF aerial? I want to watch tv withoout cable. What should I do? I know nothing.

Hi Shelly_Eddie,

Here are a couple of things to try:

Is the TV set to antenna or cable? Use the menu settings

Be sure a wire end is not bent outside of connection, i.e. coaxial cable wires sometimes bend or hide back into the sleeve.

Reset the TV and do a channel scan, unplug and see what happens.

Let me know how you make out. Good luck.

I have the same TV, it is a crappy brand. I could not get barley anything over an antenna. I hooked it up to an antenna that another tv got a great picture and all the channels and got nothing on th trutech. It works fine with cable and satalite though.
But I would not recommend anyone buy the brand.

Can't Get Antenna to Work

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. If it works, check whether the transmission is compatible with the system in your TV. Go to menu and select the correct system such as PAL/Secam etc.

TRYING TO HOOK UP OLD RCA COMBO (DVD/VCR) TO MY NEW TV. USING THE RED/WHITE/YELLOW CABLES ALONG WITH PUTTING MY CABLE SIGNAL DIRECT INTO THE DVD/VCR PLAYER AND THEN CONNECTING THE OUT LINE TO THE NEW...

ok so what you need to do is put the cable from your cable provider/ antenna (or what ever you use)to the combo players CABLE IN connection.. then color match of the red yellow and white cables from the OUT on the combo to the IN on the TV your tv has to be set on AUX sometimes called L1 or L2 depending on your tv and which set of red yellow and white holes on the tv you use... your combo will also probably need to be turned on.. try that should work!

Set it for antenna and use the single channel it sends to your TV, which is the only signal coming out of your cable box
