Hi..my name is Keith...to answer your question..there is no certain position to put the blades and there is enough clearance that they wont hit...but there is a proper torque on the nut when reinstalling the blade..and its usually like 100 foot pounds..i hope this has helped

If it has a clutch, that would be the problem. An electric clutch will kick on and off when it is hot if it is bad.
