Question about MSI Micro Star International Computer - 17 WXGA Notebook (ER710-200LA)
Problems with a MSI ER710... Today a college gave me his old laptop, saying there was something wronng with it. that something was in the first place suddenly thin blue lines all over the screen, followed by a total block of the laptop. So first thing i did today was booting it all back to factory settings and emptying the C with it. After reinstalling Vista everything seemed to work fine. But after only 30 minutes same problem. I got thin blue lines on the screen, everything stalled so i had to remove te battery for a sec. When turning it on again nothing happens. I only see the bleu powerlight led and the Orange moon led. But only a black screen, not even a blink on there. I can keep turning it on and off but nothing happens. Not even when i insert the bootdisk. Screen stays death...

Your notebook does not see the proper boot files on your C drive. Many times the boot.ini has been corrupted.
You will need a Windows XP Install CD mounted in the CD Rom. When you boot the system you need to choose the CD as the boot device (if the notebbok does not do it by default) then typr R to enter the recovery console. Once you get the C: prompt you will need to create a new boot.ini file using the bootcfg command. See the following website for details in using the Recovery Console:

hi harley, I think upgrading your OS to vista or win 7 doesn't help you find out where your web cam was located. I think you need to install the driver that the laptop must have. The driver I am referring to is the driver of the whole hardware of your laptop(display driver, sound and including your web cam). If you can't find it, you may wish to ask from the store where you bought your laptop. Hope this help harley.
