Front brakes replaced and then heard a loud bang

I had the front brakes and rotors replaced and within a week I heard something that sounded like a grind coming from the right front brake. Tonight I heard the same noise but louder and then a loud bang like something was thrown off the tire. The car runs fine. No noises or rubbing and the car drives straight with no pulling to either side. What could have been that noise?

It sounds like one of the mounting bolts-pins came loose or was not fully tightened.
the grinding noise could have been on the wheel or rotor depending on what came loose. probably the bang means its missing altogether now, DANGEROUS! do not drive.
have a tow truck bring it back and be there to look when they inspect it....

A noise like that in brakes are not something to guess at, or play around with. Call the place that did the brake job, and explain to them what happened. My guess is that they will come to you, or advise you to very carefully bring it to them for a look. Might have been a stone wedged or something but don't take the chance, have it looked at, a.s.a.p. and don't drive it if you don't have to until then.

I have recently developed a loud "rattle" in the

if this only happens when you apply the brakes it most likely sounds to me like your rotor is warped and needs to be replaced... if you are going to be doing this make sure that you replace both sides and do the brake pads as well.. the brake system on a car is not something that one should cheap out on.

I hear a loud ratteling noise coming from where

The rattle is likely a loose shield or a bad catalytic converter. As for the loud banging, Have you checked the front U-joints behind the brake rotors. As for the Reverse noise? Auto or stick shift?

I got all 4 struts replaced within the past 2 weeks. My car now has a slow oil leak coming from the front driver's side of the car. Also, there is a metal on metal grinding sound coming from the front...

they might have damaged something while jacking it up... if you can prove they damaged the car then they have to rectify it. simple as that.
Oil leak could be sump or gearbox - depending on where they put the jack...
The grinding sound could be the backing plate for the brake disc/rotor grinding against the rotor, it gets bent when you drop the suspension when changing struts... it happens when you don't know what you're doing. since an experienced mechanic would have 1- jacked the car up further, 2- propped the brake and hub up with something, 3- held it while undoing the last bolt.

Brakes and rotors making noise

Were metallic brake pads installed? If they were and are hidhly aggressive, yes. Give them a few miles to smooth out.

I have a 2008 Honda LXP purchased Novemebr 2008. It has 21000 miles on the clock. From and since 15,000 miles I heard a grinding sound when I applied the brakes after the car was stationary for over 10...

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material

I had front brakes and rotors replaced on my 2000 Durango. Within a week I heard something like a grind coming from the right front tire. And tonight I heard the same noise when braking but it was much...

sounds like something was jammed, or loose. I'd recommend taking it back to where the brakes were done and have them check it out in case something they did is messed up.

2004 Saturn Vue Brakes

The vibration is caused by the rotors being warped. Remove the front tires and check the front brake pads. Replace if needed. This is a pretty straight forward job. The rotors are "fall off" rotors and you won't need anything special tool wise.
