Connect computer HDMI to Projection TV HDMI to watch web TV
My Panasonic projection TV manual (model PT-47x54J PTV) states on pg. 9 that "the HDMI input terminal is NOT intended to be used with personal computers. This PTV is compatible with 1080i, 480p, 480i formats." The TV is about 4-5 years old but I would like to salvage it for the web if possible as I am cancelling my cable......How do I connect the TV to a computer? Currently have HDMI connection of Pavilion dv9000 but am looking for new PC, as well as LCD HDTV monitor. This would be a backup monitor downstairs...if there is no cable, then the TV is useless unless I can hook it up to a PC. Thanks for your help. email@example.com

Re: connect computer HDMI to Projection TV HDMI to watch...
Use a s-video cable or a monitor ext cable and use fn+f4 to switch
pc mon to ext mon.
n.b. f key is usually f4 , models vary.look for square icon on f key.
fn+ that key; thats fn and say f4 pressed together.

If your TV has a VGA input or the laptop and TV have HDMI run the cable over choose the correct input on the TV "pc or hdmi" my asus auto detects the hdmi stream you may have to right click on the desktop go into video setting and choose the TV.
Have you turned your TV via the Input or Source on your TV or remote to HDMI? Also look at your "F" keys to see which one switches the computer to TV mode. Generally on Toshiba's it's the F5 key. Try pressing "Fn + F5" simultaneously while you have the TV set in HDMI mode.
"the PT-AE900U supports a full range of input sources,
including DVD and video players, PCs and game machines. An HDMI input
provides compatibility with HD digital sources, while component video
input terminals deliver full-quality, detailed images from high-end,
progressive-scan DVD players. The PC IN terminal can be connected to a
game machine or PC. Other terminals include composite and S-video, as
well as a serial terminal for connecting a touch panel controller or
similar device." You can go to Dell support to either read your manual, but your laptop model's manual is there for the reading. It lists all the outputs. if you have a problem figuring which to use, they will tell you. your manual can be found at http://support.dell.com/support/dsn/dsnsearchresult.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&Query=bWFudWFs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&ServiceTag=&contenttype=-1&os=-1&component=-1&lang=-1 You may either have to connect the laptop directly to the Panasonic, or you may be able to connect it through the Harmon Kardon, but I doubt if there will be any advantage to doing that.
