SOURCE: How do I fix a

Here's how you set the timing od the Machine alright:
1. Take the side plate off, take the needle plate off.
2. Take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine. 3. Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line.
4. Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was.
At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.
This should set the timing of the machine perfect....

On my Singer 6235 sewing machine, needle will not pick up bobbin thread. Any suggestions to fix the problem?

Doesn't pick up bobbin thread
1. The bobbin may be in backwards.
2. The bobbin thread & top thread need to be pulled to the back before starting the stitching
3. You need a ballpoint rather than universal needle to sew on t-shirt knits.
4. the needle is in the machine backwards
5. Make sure the needle is the correct one for the fabric being sewed
6. Needle inserted wrong in the needle holder
7. Warped needle
8. Warped bobbin
9. Also could be a timing problem

Just received a singer futura II model 920 which seems to sew just right. When I tried to wind a bobbin, I just can't get it done.

If it is a new machine, take it for warranty service. Sounds like perhaps something is misaligned with the release lever. In the meantime, a standalone bobbin winder can be purchased at JoAnn's, Hancocks, or Amazon.com for about $35 (helps reduce wear & tear on your machine).

It's very difficult to say whether it is worth the price of repair. On the other hand, what would you do with a machine that doesn't work? It could be something very simple that can be repaired for a small price, or it could be something expensive. (However, since you indicate it is only the bobbin winder that is faulty, otherwise the machine works with that one exception, you can save up to get the bobbin winder fixed.) FWIW, a standard check, clean & oil could cost around $100 (based on what I currently pay for my machines). However, you could ask what it would cost to fix the bobbin winder only.

From a search on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=singer+futura+920

You can track similar machines and their sales prices to determine if it would be worth fixing your machine. Even if you don't, you can still purchase the standalone bobbin winder and continue to use the machine anyway. A working machine is better than none at all.

I need a manual for singer 7105

If when you put the bobbin in, you can't get the top thread to bring it up, your timing is off. That means that the hook that catches the top thread as it goes around is out of sync. If you have had no experience working with this type of machinery, I do not recommend that you try to fix it yourself; however, any sewing machine technician can fix it for you--it should not be expensive and doesn't take long, and it doesn't have to be a Singer dealer--hooks and how they work are standard for every machine. I believe that Sears will work on any machine. It doesn't require a replacement part.

Have a c-150 furtura ...i'm getting a bad stitch on the bobbin thread with both reg and embroidery stitching how do i fix this been in repair shop 3 times comes back with still bad stitch they use...

ANOTHER THING IS TO CHECK THE TENSION OF THE BOBBIN THREAD. MAKE SURE THE THREAD YOU ARE USING IS GOOD THREAD THAT DOESN'T PULL THE COTTON UP AND CAUSE A PUFF BALL ON THE NEEDLE. CHECK THE WAY YOU ARE LOADING THE TOP THREAD. ALWAYS DO THIS WHILE THE FOOT IS UP SO THAT YOU CAN CONTINUOUSLY GIVE TUGS THROUGH EACH OF THE GUIDES. THIS HAS TO BE LITTLE TENSION WITH NO SNAGS.

Singer model 640 needle hits metal in bobbin area on downstroke

Yep, it's out of time. Take it in for service. Ask for cleaning, lubing and re-timing. Otherwise they will just time it and if it is dirty and dry... it may just fall out of time again.

Also remember you can never turn the hand wheel backwards to the way it is intended to go... that causes this issue in some machines.

I think the timing is off on my singer 7430 -- it keeps breaking needles and I can see where the needle hits the bottom of the bobbin casing when it is in the fully down position -- any quick fix?

Drop-in bobbin?

Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for cleaning.

Raise the needle to it's highest position and remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and replace the bobbin case, noting the graphic in the instruction manual for aligning the case into the shuttle.

Turn the handwheel to see if the needle now clears the outer edge of the bobbin case.

With the needle hitting the bobbin case , it sounds like it might be out of time. Which I am sorry to say is not an easy at-home fix.

Needle & Bobbin out of sync

This description sounds like the machine is out of time. The needle should match up with a cut out section in the bottom of the bobbin area. If it is hitting, the timing has slipped, probably from sewing on a fabric that was too heavy for the machine.
