Question about Air Conditioning and Heat for Mazda Tribute

1 Answer

Mazda MPV AC Ireegularity

My AC runs fine when on the freeway, but around town it stops when the RPMs are not kept high on a long, consistent basis. If sitting at a red light for a long time with the AC on it stops working as well, and the engine starts running hot. I was told I need a new AC computer that goes behind the glove box. However, in searching for the product online I cannot find an product that goes by that description.

i'm simply trying to find what the computer part is called that regulates the AC. It's behind the glove box in the 2002 MPV Mazda.

Sounds like the ac cooling fan on the radiator is not working and it gets hot at the lights but is ok driving because you have air coming thru the radiator then

Try replacing the fuel filter, it's located underneath on the frame where the front passenger sits, look inside of the frame rail.

I have experienced this symptom. I'm going to hazard a guess that your problem is the same as mine. A faulty electronic ignition module.

replacement of parts can be done by any compentent mechanic. However the system may need to be recharged or drained if system integrity is still intact by a licensed or certified shop depending on where you live

Trouble with my rpms

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Dodge ram 1500 engine rpms surge at freeway speed

those sensors could cause the issue, clean the MAF 1st, also clean the idle system using the following procedure, the IAC can cause cruise surge. I use this to cure these problems all the time.

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve (IAC) and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
