SOURCE: When I play DVD's my tv screen gets a rectangle box on it, the VHS is fine, it's just the DVD player.

Yes! you are right, this almost sounds like a captions problem, check the DVD/VCR Combo menu, if it has captions turn it off using your remote.

SOURCE: The VCR accepts the tape and starts to play; then stops and shuts off; when you turn the power back on the tape ejects

You have a transport problem, the mechanism the plays, FF or rewinds is not working.

Someone is going to have to open and look at the unit---as simple as a belt off or broken to the idler (rubber or geared) that doe the actual work, finding a shop that will work on a VCR unit is getting hard as most of the current techs have never seen this type of unit.

What I used to do when I opened one was have a old cassette with the tape removed! but the reels inside of it still there--tape off both sides of the cassette where it opens so the sensors on either side do not try to stop the unit from allowing this.

This way with the unit open and the dummy cassette in you can see thru its top to see if the reels are moving or not and not have the tape get in the way.

When I use the timer to record a TV show with my DVD-R155, unit locks up.

If you can afford it purchase a TIVO. I had a a video and dvd player and it drove me mad. This unit records 2 programs at once with just the press of a button.
you can watch tv at the same time. Also you can rewind situations on live tv to watch it again. Top unit. I am 73 and I have no problem using it. Love it!

I dont have cable.i was using this tv just to play dvds and i accidentally hit channel search. now i get a blue screen that says" plerase connect cable system or an antenna to the terminal on the back...

Hi:
Using remote locate a button called tv/video or Input, turn on the DVD player and hit this button until you see your DVD player Logo. Most dvd players use either video 1 or 2, or componet or HDMI outputs. Seems you have changed the TV's input back to TV mode and you need to change it to a video mode input.

How do I RECORD FROM A CAMCORDER TO THE DVD SIDE OF THE UNIT

  1. Connect the camcorders yellow, red, and white (Audio/ Video) to the input on the back of the combo called AV1 or Video 1.
  2. Then turn the channel on the DVD recorder to AV1 or Video 1. (A couple channels down from channel 2)
  3. Make sure camera is in VCR mode and hit play on camera
  4. You should see your camera video on your TV and rewind to the place you want to start recording and hit stop.
  5. Put an empty DVD in recorder and hit Rec. Button (usually red)
  6. Then hit play on your camcorder until you would like to stop
  7. Then hit stop on your DVD recorder and each section like this will be another chapter.

I NEED HELP IN STOLLING MY NEW DVD PLAYER

good day,

just make sure that the colors are matched with the jock and the socket in your dvd player and your tv. just make sure that you unplug first your dvd player and tv while attaching the wires to avoid accidents.

just follow the color coding of the wires and cables and you wont go wrong. just plug in the your tv and dvd player to the electric socket and in no time you will be watching your favorite movie.

for the player, just press the open(eject) button to insert your dvd and normally it will automatically play. just hit rewind (<<) for playback and forward (>>) to skip some scenes. use the |<< button to go back to a previous section and the >>| to skip to the nest section. use the || to pause and the button with the square symbol to stop.

i hope this would help.

Stuck in Progressive Scan Mode...please help!

There should be a switch on the DVD player that is makred 'progressive/interlaced.' You need to flick this switch til it says interlaced, as obviously your TV cannot view progressive signals. It may be on the back of the player, or under a flap on the front.

VCR/DVD player DVP3340V/17

Are you using the cable connectors to go into the VCR, and then from the VCR to the TV?

If so, turn the VCR on. Put the TV on channel 3 or 4 (depending on which one you have it set to. If you are unsure, try both channels one at a time) Press the VCR/DVD button so the display on the VCR says VCR (not DVD). Now, you should be able to change the channel with your VCR remote control. If not, you have a problem with your cables. Make sure your cable from the wall goes to RF IN on your VCR. The RF Out on the VCR should go to your TV ANT In or TV RF In.

If you have successfully gotten your TV to display the TV station shown on the front of your VCR, then all you have to do is put in a tape, select the channel you want to record and press the record button.

If you want to watch another channel while you're recording, press the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote, then use your TV remote to change channels.

When you want to stop recording, press the stop button, put the TV back onto channel 3 or 4 (depending on what you have it set to) and press the TV/VCR button on your VCR again. From here you can rewind and view your recording.
