Question about Crosley Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I got given the Crosley CR6009A turntable as a gift. Very stupidly I plugged it in to the wall, turned it on and something went 'pop'. It's from the US (120v) and I'm in the UAE (240v)

More info on the turntable here: http://www.crosleyradio.com/Product.aspx?pid=2015

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: would this motherboard fint in

Yes, the board would physically fit in the 5000 series case. In fact, any micro-ATX form factor board would fit. But you will need a new power supply as well. Motherboards used in those computers did not need the 4-pin power cable required on new boards. You should also consider cooling if you are building a high-performance system. The 5000 series case doesn't offer much room for adding cooling fans - only one place on the rear panel. But they are nice cases. I've built several systems in them.

SOURCE: JBL on stage II speaker doesn't work

If your 120v unit is not marked for use with 220-240v and you plugged it into such a socket (even once), you probably fried the AC adapter and will need to get a replacement.

SOURCE: I am going to list

The NewEgg reviews are mixed for the second unit. I generally lean towards the larger PSU but it depends on your future plans. For the little difference in price, I'd do the 850.

Very subjective question & answer. :-)

I don't get paid for advice so if this answers your problem, I would appreciate 4 thumbs.

What is signal to noise ratio

The noise is that produced by the working circuits of the item in question. If this is too high the signal (what you want to listen too) will become overwhelmed by noise (generally in the form of hiss). Therefore the higher the signal and the lower the noise the better. This is expressed in a ratio between the two.

Audio is quite muffled

Well this question takes me back a long ways. I would suggest the following
1- Clean the records with a micro fiber cloth just to make sure they are not the problem
2- Check your needle for something stuck on it, use a magnifying glass since if there is something probably to small to actually see.
3- Check that your needle is set with enough weight on it to keep it from skating and that the wight is keeping the needle in the groove and not skating the along the edges.
4- Check the wires from the record player to your amp, since they can wear out on occasion and this will affect the sound quality that you get.

Beyond this, not really sure

Crosely won't play usb

If it's a turntable with a usb connector, those connections are usually outputs only. USB on a turntable is used to output the audio to a computer to rip albums to digital audio.

Most turntables are belt driven. Suggest you take a look inside but remember to unplug the deck first. Usually it's a simple case of slipping the belt back on.

Crosley CR24 transformer rating

As transformers are Safety parts they must be replaced by the excat same part or one that is approved by Crosley. You should not attemp to use another transformer unless it's approved by Crosley. Otherwise it could become a fire hazard.

How can i slow down the turn table on a crosley cr 66 multiplayer with no control speed and it don't work pulling the arm to the right I tried that not helpful

The problem is in the motor of the turntable, the regulator is not putting out the correct voltage to the motor, and the circuit is often built into the motor making it impossible to service. The only option is motor replacement.

Haven't used the turntable in years. Went to use it today and the turntable doesn't begin turning when the arm is lifted. Everything else works. Thanks, Al

If this is a belt driven turntable, then you have to replace the belt, as this units gets old the belts loosen up as well.

Turntable will not rotate when in "Phono" mode

I recently was given my Father's CR78CD and, assuming your unit is in working order, you turn on the turntable motor by lifting the tonearm off the post and moving it away from the turntable about one and a half to two inches. You should hear a soft click as the switch for the motor activates.
