This is a main board fault. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center.

Flashing red light

This could be a multitude of things. the constant blinking (no pattern) is indicative of an error with the power management system. The quickest way to test is by disconnecting the main board from the power supply board, plug in the power supply board, after that you should see some lights in the screw holes if the power supply is good. If you do not, then you can either move on to the mainboard. Worst case scenario would be a bad panel, which can also cause this error. It might help if you post some images of the back of your TV with the cover removed as well as images of the different boards. Use this guide for that. Of course, a bad capacitor is always a possibility as well
:-)

Best of luck to you.

What is burn mode for on plasma

to protect it from a constant image that will stay on your tv for ever.. Like a logo from a tv station or a bright lettered word that is constant at the end of a dvd that does not shut off. (you will be able to see them when the tv displays a dark scene). the Burn mode moves the image around if it detects that it has been there to long.
Also there is a mode in some that displays random signals to try to recover some of these issues back to the black they were to start with.

I have a new Brookstone compact telescope. The image in the smaller viewfinder is upside down making it difficult to line up with image in main telescope. Is this normal? And if so, any suggestions for...

Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one, but one wouldn't bother to do this with the small finder scope.

Telescope manuals recommend that you align the finder scope in daylight, by pointing the main scope at an object on the horizon and adjusting the finder to match (never point a telescope toward the Sun!). Once you have a tree or mountain peak in the center of the main scope's image, you can then adjust the screws around the finder scope to get the crosshairs (or red dot) centered on the same object. It is very difficult to do this job in the dark, especially as objects in the sky are constantly on the move.

How toalign ez finder? orionstarseeker 80

For any of these telescopes the manual advises that you do this in the daytime, training the scope on an object on the horizon (never point it towards the sun!). Use the lowest power eyepiece you have (the one with the highest number). Once you have a tree or mountain peak in the center of the main scopes image, you can then adjust the screws around the finder scope to get the crosshairs centered on the same object. It is very difficult to do this job in the dark, especially as objects in the sky are constantly on the move.

Transparent Images slow down in Powerpoint 2007

ikkenom's solution is wrong. I'm experiencing the same on bleading edge machines. It seems to be an issue overall with high res images and I think it has a lot to do with the program trying to draw a preview image to move around before it actually lets you move. Previous versions of PPT did not do this preview draw and I think that's why we could move our images right away. If anyone knows a registry value or anything else, it would be greatly appreciated.

Motor turns but does not start.

If moving the ignition around gets it to crank, you've got a bad ignition switch. A bad switch will occasionally function when moving the key around in the ignition or moving the switch around as you've described. The contacts wear with time (especially if there are a lot of keys on the key chain) and need replacing when constant contact can't be maintained to start the vehicle. Best of luck with your problem. Take care!

Had to move scanner (HP Scanjet 4300C) while replacing room carpet. When reconnected, the scanner works as before, except the scaned image is black with no image. Did I break it, seems moving around harmed...

Looks like something happened to the CCD when the scanner was moved. The CCD is what captures the image and it's not user servicable. Got to call HP for service.

Plasma shows rings of contrast around highlights & shows echos of what has been on the screen which last several seconds before fading away

This is common with plasmas actually. So long as the image fades and isn't a constant residual affect I wouldn't worry about it, but if it is constant and doesn't fade, its a sign of plasma burn out. The plasma in the tv has been active too long with one specific image or series of images.

Plasma televisions have been complained about because of this.
