To identufy your processor:

  • Left-click on Menu "Start", left-click on "Control Panel" ... Opening the Control Panel.
  • In this window (Panel), a list of icons displayed, and one of these icons, you will find an icon called "System" in which you double-click it.
  • The properties are displayed Systems and the first tab is called "General".
  • On this tab is the name of your processor, its operating frequency type and its actual incidence

I have a sony vaio vgn-nr430e laptop, and was wondering if the motherboard processor could be upgraded? Also can a video card be installed.

Hi.

Yes you should be able to upgrade the processor on the laptop for a faster one. The socket type of the processor is socket PPGA47. This code is what you type for when looking for a faster processor. The installed processor should be Intel Pentium T2390 / 1.86 GH.

As for the graphics card then i'm sorry but the graphics chip is part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

Regards.

I would like to upgrade my Acer Aspire 4315 PC Notebook it has celeron processor 1.73ghz 533mhz fsb 2.53gb ram running on win xp pro what dual core processor can this laptop take?

Well most modern laptops cannot not be upgraded in this manner because the processors are hard soldered on the motherboards. Even if you have a removable type processor the newer dual cores will not be compatible with your type of motherboard.

It is impossible to upgrade a CPU for a laptop.
That is the bad side of laptops, you are stuck with the same processor which can not be upgraded

Processor

90 percent of the time a processor upgrade in a laptop is not possible as the processors are soldered on to the mother board. The only laptops i know that you can change the processors are early thinkpad by IBM as far as i know.
