SOURCE: can't open oven door on my kitchenaid gas range.

Hi

This indicates that there is an issue with the door latch switch assembly; if the switch tests open then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: Re Kitchenaid KDRP487MSS03 dual Gas range. New.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand based on your post you have a KitchenAid dual fuel KDRP487 "New" professional range, correct ?

I'll start by saying I don't know what if anything has been suggested to you, but I'd like to ask if when you state the surface burners operate (gas) does this include the ignition system for the surface ?

If that is indeed the scenarion and yet the range is absolutely new...I have a suggestion before you go replacing parts, potentially needlessly. First and formost, insure it has 240volts at the range "correctly". (the surface will function with 120volts so don't let that fool you)

What I mean is, although it should be wired correctly...better to be absolute, 240 from L1 to L2.

If you're certain everything is correct, there is another possible scenario that will prevent any clock or oven operation...

That is the hi-limit safety thermostat may be tripped, that is the component that typically trips/activates during a self clean on many ranges. You shouldn't need to open the front control panel, but access is through the back.

You'll need to slide the range/oven outfrom the cabinet. If you slide the unit away from the wall and unplug it you can replace the hi-limit. It will be a non-reset type hi-limit (based on the model number you posted) so needs to be replaced as I mentioned, doing so will get you back up and cooking in no time.

**Unplug the range from the wall first of course...safety first**

Once you remove the panel you will need to look for a switch/thermostat which looks like this...

You can verify or dismiss this possibility with a simple continuity test (or jumping it out for testing). The replacement is available at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com" to name a couple.

Let me know how you make out. Good luck. I'll watch for your reply and if you need anything further I'll be glad to help in any manner I can.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

One burner on Kera205pbt won't heat

Just to be clear, the burner does not heat at all? Is this the small or large burner? Swap the burner with another one to see if it is the burner itself or the infinite switch. Post back your results.

You might have blown the thermal fuse. Here is a diagram of your unit.
The fuse is number 37 on the diagram. Check it for continuity. Here is the part to order in case it is bad.
Keep me posted.

I havef a KitchenAid Gas Range Model KGSS907... and one of the ignitors on one of the burners is not sparking. I tried to take the stove top off to check the wire to the ignitor but don't see how to...

Hello,

Typically the burner come off by removing the burner caps and inside the burners are 2 screws that hold the burner base to the top..yes you could swap igniters on all burners they will be the same. If by swapping the igniters it still doesnt work the things that could be the problem are;

the spark module espically if the igniter that doesnt work on that burner suddendly work on a different burner

the spark switch on the gas valve for that burner..typically all burners spark when one it turned on but the only one that lights is one that has gas flow to it..so turning on a different burner first and leave it set to light setting by turning on the one that doesnt light it will light if that spark switch is the problem

of course a cracked igniter

a broken wire from the spark module to that igniter taht doesnt work..its not that uncommon that the insulation will sometimes wear off a wire off so the electric that should be going from the spark module to the igniter is instead being grounded by that wire touching the metal on the frame uninsulated

Good luck,i hope i have been able to help you fix your range,

Own a KitchenAid gas range superba, how do i clean the burner, one of my front burners the gas flow is very low, the stove has the glass/ceramic top with no wells & no way to get to the burners...only...

You'll need certified stove technician to service you kitchen Aid range. You have low gas flow on one of the burner. The manual gas control valve behind the knob needs to removed and cleaned. If you have one cleaned then have technician clear all four of these manual gas valves. While he cleaning the valve have do a complete check up of you Kitchen Aid range. Dangerous for the home owners to do this procedure because flowing natural gas or propane. In a lot the states you'll need to be certified by the state to work with natural gas, gas stove, ovens, gas home heating units, etc. It differentially a no,no here.

It is not the burners, it is gas flow valves for the burners. Most of the burner are made of aluminum and I wouldn't use any harsh cleaners of them. Check with Kitchen Aid and ask them what is recommend for cleaning the burners. Also the top of the range isn't ceramic but porcelain, it glass that has been melt to the top hood of the range. Don't use scratch pads, steel wool or any thing that will mare the Periclean surface of your stove.

If you can get the aluminum burner out to clean them then do so. GB you Allison and I wish you many year cooking on your Kitchen Aid range. stewbison
