Hi I have a ds lite only a few months old I turned it on and as u can see the top screen is like this how can I fix it and is it easy

The most likely reason for the screen being unstable is that when the shell casing was damaged the top screens ribbon was damaged at the same time.

You can sort both these issues out but it is not a small job, you will need a few specialist tools, a new top screen, basic soldering skills, delicate handling and plenty of patience.

If you are willing to take on this task then everything you need for the job is readily avaliable from ebay.

The stuff you need are:
1x Replacement shell/ housing/ casing for DS lite.
1x Replacement top screen for DS lite.
1x Precision tri-wing screwdriver.
1x Soldering iron (ideally with 1mm tip, but not essential) and solder.
1x Tweezers.
1x Flat tool, i.e. craft knife, flat head screwdriver.
1x Precision cross head screwdriver.

The top screen will need to be replaced. Your only options are to either to send it off for repair or to fix it yourself.

Hi,

It's all to do with the top screen... What happens is that when you turn the DS lite on it performs a quick check on the screens to make sure they are connected properly, if one or both are not connected properly then the unit will shut down.
The flashing of the screen shows you that that particular screen is fine whereas the one that does nothing is not connected properly, either through a loose connection or faulty screen/ ribbon.

Your best bet is to buy a new top screen (I usually get mine from ebay for around £10-£12) and fit it. That should sort out your issue.

Yes, this is a fairly easy problem to fix.

There are a few things that could have happened, the most likely thatone of you cable clips is loose, and when you open it fully, it pullsit out just enough so that the connection is lost.

Your going toneed to open your DS, (the forms at www.powergamingparts.com are thebest forms to find these instructions) then just disable your clip, andreinsert it, and then close the clip, and put you DS back together.Just ask if you need any additional help.

Either the system has a blown fuse or it needs the top screen replaced. Either is simple to fix if you are a little bit technically inclined..... You can get replacement screens off ebay for less then $10.00. I have fixed a few of these and its really not to hard....

Replace upper screen and the Upper front bezel.
Or replace the upper screen and the complete DS Lite Housing. You can find them on the well known auction sites. Please be aware that you must know what your are doing. If in doubt, send it to Nintendo or a local Nintendo repair service

did you drop it a lot? If you did you may not be able to fix it...

sounds like a wire has been cut on the ribbon cable . not an easy fix , could be a new top screen and soldering
