Question about Dell Inspiron 1300 Notebook
I have a dell and it has a TS-632 Cd drive. The drive powers up and everything but Its not displayed on the My computer folder nor does it do anything. The computer does not detect it when I plug it in. What do I do?
First thing you need to check is whether the issue happens only if you are logged in to Windows or not. For you to check if it also happens outside of Windows, insert the Windows Operating System disk (XP or Vista) then shutdown the computer. Turn it back on. As soon as you see the Dell Logo, keep on pressing F12. Then select "CD/DVD ROM" from the choices and press enter. When you see the prompt "Press any key to boot from the CD", keep on tapping the "Enter" key. If your CD/DVD drive is working fine, you should see a page that'd say "Windows is loading files". If not then the system is not detecting your drive. Then check the BIOS page. F2 on the Dell Logo. Then look for Drive Configuration. If the drive isn't there, reseat it. Physically remove the drive from the computer and put it back in. Then restart.
