Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My White Knight gas dryer is about ten years old. It usually, but not always, works for about 30 minutes and then only lights while the ignitor is firing. Sometimes, when the ignitor is firing, if I bang the machine hard the the burner will continue to fire. I have changed the solenoids to no avail. There must be a temperature sensor somewhere that I could change. If so where is it located and how easy is it to change? I have already spent a lot having the solenoids changed and if I can't do it myself I will have to dump what is basically a good machine.

SOURCE: Dryer not heating

odess, sounds like you need a new set of coils for the valve. Easy job. Remove the bottom access panel and you will see the gas valve. Remove the top screws from the coils and the coils will lift off and then unplug the harnesses. Install the new coils. Part number for your coils is 12001349. Price about 18.00 Check them out at repairclinic.com This should take care of your heating issues. Catriver.

SOURCE: intermittent gas dryer

You are right. Gas valve coils are bad. As they get hot they malfunction as insulation has broken down. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

SOURCE: Amana dryer ignitor lights, sometimes gas catches, sometimes not

I have the An Amana commercial quality stainless dryer and mine just started doing the same exact thing. he replaced the ignitor and nothing. Now they say the gas valve needs replacing, $150-$200. He told me it looked like the roller were starting to wear and the dryer is coming towards the end of life and maybe I should look for a new one, that is B.S. My dryer is 6 years old and we only have 2 people in the house so it gets used about 2-3 time per week. I also have an Amana washer that matches (commercial stainless) and the drain pump and drum seal already went out in that last year. My diagnosis is Amana is JUNK!!! I am going to buy G.E. or something non Maytag/Amana from now on!

Admiral Dryer Model #AGD4475TQ No Heat

This is very rare on a gas dryer but I have seen it. If you have already replaced all that other stuff I would say it has to be inside the timer. On one I worked on once I could remove that orange wire and the dryer would function ok so I ordered a new timer, they sent me a bad timer. Same problem. I finally got a working timer after going through a bunch of mess. That fixed it. So if all the other components are working it very well could be the timer.

Hope you can help i have a frigidare 30 in stove 7 years old oven does not go on glow coil is working help thanks andrew

the "glow coil" /ignitor is weak and needs to be replaced , to get a bit techinal for a minute since the ignitor comes on at all that eliminates all other possibilities and the ignitor must draw between 3.2-3.6 amps to open the gas valve it indeed is coming on yet not drawing enough amps(getting hot enough) to open the gas valve.I base my oponion on 30 years plus as a appliance repair technician

No Heat on a whirlpool dryer. 14 years old.drum turns, timer moves, getting gas to valve, tapped solenoids-no change.burner not lighting. thanks for any info

if ignitor not coming on could be flame sensor mounted on side of burner housing or ignitor ..if ignitor glowing but burner no lighting replace both solenoids bad connections interally on solenoids..also if ignitor not glowing possible small white thermal fuse open.. sensor and fuse can be jumped across to confirm ..

Gas dryer

First, let me be sure that you have a pilot light on this dryer. Most dryers (even the older ones) use an electric ignitor to ignite the gas flow. This ignitor will glow red or orange, and a flame sensor will start the flow. If you are not sure that you have a pilot light, try starting it a couple of times and let it run for about 30 minutes. These units sometimes get air in the lines (especially if they were opened for repair) and the air has to get purged from the system before it will light completely. Let me know for sure about the pilot sysem, because they are so very old, you usually cant get parts for them anymore. Thanks!!!
