Your speaker is an active one. This means that it has indepented amplifier for low and high frequencies. So maybe the woofer (low speaker) is still active but its amplifier is defective. In order to make things more clear take a look at this block diagram to understand the signal flow:

I suggest you to unscrew the screws at the back panel and eject the whole electronics from the inside:

Take care the cables that connect the electronics with the speakers. If it's easy mark what goes where and unplug these cables. Now with the electronics on the table try to locate fuse(s) that may have been blown; since you don't smell burned components, fuses is the most common problem. Replace any blown fuse with the same one and put things back in the proper order. In case that you don't locate any fuses the problem is at components and I can't be sure if you can manage replacing components.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

Thanks and regards

No more subs in jbl prx-512m

First check the speaker with a multimeter.

If it is OK, then check/repair the Class D amp that drives the speaker,

up to the input stage.

There are board part numbers printed on the PCB and some are

available on line.

Have a tech to guide you ,should you feel to Diy.

Make sure your audio interconnecting cables are XLR or TRS balanced lines. Use of TS cables similar to guitar cables with only two conductors (only the tip and the sleeve) reduce the gain 6 DB and contribute to hum and noise.

Sounds like you're over driving them. First check to make sure they're on "line level" not mic. Shutting off is amp(s) in speakers going into "thermal shutdown" IE: overheating. According to your description level settings look good - check to make sure speakers are on LINE LEVEL
