Pc wont start no beep

I went to use the desktop this week and it was all locked up. ctrl, alt and delete wouldnt work so the only thing i could do is switch it off. when i switched it back on it powered on as usual but within a flash a sentence like some count doesnt match computer count file corrupt and then it went dead. theres no beep when i switch it on. the fans work and lights. the cd drive will open and close but the pc wont try to read it. there is no back up disk to format it as acer had it built into the system. you cant get into the bios menu. ive removed and reinserted the memory card still nothing.

Thanks guys for all the info. Acer don't supply a recovery disc, it's built into the pc. Tried pressing alt and f10 to get it to reset to factory settings but still nothing.

SOURCE: problem with a disk read error

There are a couple of possibilities.

1. The hard drive is defective.

2. The operating system is corrupt.

The easiest way to test this is to run the restore cd that came with the computer to reload Windows.

If you get this error while running the restore cd then you will need to get a new hard drive.

Try using CTRL, ALT, DELETE. It sounds like you may have locked your
keyboard by accident. Once you hit CTRL, ALT, DELETE, it will bring up the
log in page. Simply enter your password, if any, and you should be good to
go.

When I switch on my computer, I get a message your computer is locked. How do I unlock?

if it is locked, you can go Ctrl-Alt-Delete on your keyboard.

that is, you hold down the CTRL key, then while holding that key, press Alt, and while both those keys are down, press Delete, and then release all 3 keys.

put in the password that you log into the PC with.
and the PC should now unlock and present your desktop.

Press delete enter to set up so what can i do nothing is working

Sound you are trying to get into the BIOS, some use key F2,F8, or F10, it will say very fast what the correct key is, it might be very fast.

The first item is the key or key combination. The second is the model of PC or the maker of the BIOS. You'll see some companies listed many times, with different keystrokes. That's normal. (It's not that manufacturers can't make up their minds. It's just that they change suppliers and use different BIOS setups.)
Delete: AMI or Award BIOS.
Esc: Toshiba
F1: Toshiba; Phoenix; some IBM PS/1 models.
F10: Compaq.
F2: NEC.
Insert: IBM PS/2.
Tab: eMachines.
Reset button (press twice): Some old Dells.
Ctrl-Alt-+: Various computers.
Ctrl-Alt-?: Some old IBM PS/2 models.
Ctrl-Alt-Enter: Some Dells, others.
Ctrl-Alt-Esc: AST, Tandon, others.
Ctrl-Alt-Ins: Zenith PCs, Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Alt-S: Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Alt-Shift with Del (on number pad): Olivetti.
Ctrl-Esc: Many PCs.
Ctrl-Ins: Some IBM PS/2s.
Ctrl-S: Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Shift-Esc: Tandon

Cant reboot - it started when the internet froze and i did ctrl atl delete and ended prosces for expoler, then computer froze so i used ctrl alt delete to restart computer, when computer restarted it...

Good day sir/maam, the reson why it froze is caused by a bad memory module, you may need to replace it. Open up your computer and locate the memory modules, remove all memory modules and bring it to a computer vendor for testing. or if you have the cash, better buy a new one. make sure that what you install on your PC be it tested or new is good.
