Question about Technics Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Technics su-g88 that had no sound unless it was turned up to the max. I was told that the amp chips rsn 3305 and rsn 310r36 were bad. I purchased them and installed them and now I get the overload on the screen when I turn it on. I put the old ones back in and no overload on the display but the sound problem is back. I sent the chips back and got another set but they do the same thing. Is there something else that either of these chips could have taken out if they were indeed bad? I have tried this with and without the speakers so that is not the problem. I have also tried with the tuner unit hooked and with out and also have none of the other parts hooked(ex. cd, tape or eq units)

Check the solder connections on the voltage regulators. They should be on the heatsink near the amp ic's. These have a tendency to break down over time.

also thought about trying a different compasny for the main amp chips

Might also look at the connection on the rear panel jacks. Some of these are ground connections for the main board and if these are broken, they could cause problems.

SOURCE: Technics SU-G91 OVERLOAD PROBLEM

I had the same problem. As soon as the volume reached about 24db it would go into overload. I was able to fix it by soldering all the connections on the larger power module. The one connected the the heat sink. When I took it apart there where several solder points that had come loose.

I just got mine back from repair shop, same symtoms, they replaced power supply, in your case it was hit and miss for a while, so maybe bad power supply connections inside.

SOURCE: Technics ST-X302L tuner - Unit not powering on

i have the same unit and a similar problem, after a fall of the tuner on the floor while i was cleaning my room, first times the st-x302l was powering fine but after some minuts it quit alone.. now (i dont know why) it remains on but if there is an interruption of electricity it dont turn on anymore, it turn on only by removing the metal chassis and moving random the electronics.. i think it has some electronic contact or circuit break.. i brought it to a specialist in electronics and he told me the reparation would be too expensive so i prefer to try fix it by myself.

Technics SU-G75 overload

I have the same problem..it will be required to remove the board and resolder "cold " solderings... None of above solutions have been helpful, but "you get what you paid for"..and I completely disagree...even if required, remove ALL audio power managing circuitry and replace this expensive original design with TI´s Integrated chips..using PWM technology..unless you want to go back to L6, ot Kts tubes..

Does the SU-G88 AMP carry a remote control and can you advise where I can buy one from? Is the amp for sale and how much?

Search engines would reveal those answers faster than waiting for one of us to do it for you.

It DOES use a remote.
