In settings/general/language - make sure that the only language ticked is English - then you can use the *A/a button

Try the below for Turning On/Off Predictive Text
While in message screen, press * to switch among modes.

  1. Type your word using one keystroke per letter.
  2. If word shown is the one you want, press 1 or # to accept and add space.
  3. If intended word is not found, select Options and Spell or Edit Word. Press and hold Clear (C) button to remove word. Type new word using the ABC (triple-tap) mode and press Insert (or Yes). Word will be added to dictionary.
  4. To add punctuation, press * to see symbol selection.

While writing a message, go to

I cant switch predictive text on

Hi,

For you to switch to predictive text or T9, just go to your "Text Message" window, when on that application window please select on your "options" button on your cell phone.

You'll have a pop up with scroll options that would either say 'predictive text', just ok the T9 or "Predictive Text" option and you would be able to have predictive text switched on.

Kind Regard

Texting without using predictive text

Predictive text (or T9) is usually turned off by holding * or # for few seconds, or you may need to go to message settings and turn it off there. What kind of phone are you using?
