The only way your surround sound will work is if you have either the coaxial or fiber optic digital hookups attached to a PS3/Blueray/DVD/Cable box/Satellite box that have digital sound outputs. If you are just using the 1970's version of the red/white audio cables that is stero only.

SOURCE: Sony STR-DG510 hook up with BDP-S560 no sound

The Sony manual for this receiver is not wrong, it is just a little misleading.
It does in fact use HDMI but ONLY for the HIGH DEFINITION video portion of the signal, as output from the receiver to your television. High Definition Multimedia interface carries both audio and video, however, your receiver is not decoding the high definition AUDIO portion of it and passing it through the HDMI, nor is it passing any form of multichannel audio through HDMI. So you can see why the receiver is no longer available for sale from the Sony website. The HDMI connection on your receiver is redundant unless you are not using a multichannel audio format, in which case you would be using either the TV speakers or connect an additional audio cable from the TV's "audio out" back into the receiver for external speakers.
All that should be done is use the HDMI cable from your blu-ray player connected directly to your TV. That will give you your picture, and possibly a better one since the receiver will no longer be in the signal path.
Then connect either a coaxial or optical cable from the blu ray player to the receiver for your audio. You will then be able to have Dolby Digital and DTS surround formats.
Your service person was wrong.

Helo ! I need to know why the subwoofer is silent when I connect it to my receiver-STR DE 475 . Plus , the sorround does not work . When I push the bottons , I either get the centre with the front...

Have you looked at the manual? There are procedures for adding a sub (which is NOT necessarily assumed to be there) and assigning bass to it.

Then there's the unidentified sub's manual and requirements to consider.

I recently got a used onkyo s2.2. When I first plugged in my speakers into the stereo plugs it worked fine. After swapping the speakers out, the right channel on both A and B sets no longer worked. I have...

Do you mean >>> DR <<< s2.2? All those model digits matter.

What speakers use 'stereo plugs"? Regardless, define YOUR speakers in detail. According to the manual they should be nominally 6-ohms. Much lower and you're daring this thing to self-destruct.

My s120 speaker system wont work . i dont know if i need a driver

Hi luisavila311, sorry! But I couldn't find the "Drivers you need"
"It seems most of the {Speakers from Logitech}, 'either do not have "Drivers Software, 'or do not 'require' [Drivers Installation].".
This is the "Website."
"You can 'check for yourself"
"I'am giving you this "Link" to (Download a User's Manual).
You may find more information in it, to show you what you need to do!"
!Important: "Take a 'moment to rate the help', so I can get 'credit' for the work.

Thank you!" - paul7of9

Some speakers?

Let's start with following the manual, then come back with specific issues.

There are a lot of pieces to be filled in. Setup, sources, speakers, cabling...

I have a Fisher RS-909 Surrond Sound amplifier. It has no "sub out" jack. I had the sub-woofer working in the past by wiring it as shown in the manual. The problem is that the system was in...

Alright i had a chance to look over things, this is how you are going to hook up the sub. first we'll be connecting the surround sound unit to the sub woofer.
surround sound unit sub woofer
left front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) left speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - ->( - ) left speaker level in

right front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) right speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - >( - ) right speaker level in

now that the surround sound unit is connected to the sub woofer you will need to connect the front surround sound speakers to the sub woofer.
sub woofer front surround sound speaker
left speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) left front speaker
left speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - - ->( - ) left front speaker

right speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) right front speaker
right speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - ->( - ) right front speaker

Alright now that the wires are all over the place and plugged in
turn everything on and see how it sounds. let me know if everything is working as it should. if you need help with anything else or if something does not seem right please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone

PROTECT shows every time I turn my reciever on. It's a SONY model #STR-DE335

Turn it OFF. Look for shorted speaker wires or shorted speakers.

None found? Disconnect all speaker wires and try to turn it on.

Turns on ok? One of the speakers/cable pairs is shorted. Check them again.

No good? It's dead. take it to a tech.
