Ok I just dealt with the Sharp customer support for this problem.
1) You need to unplug the TV for 1 full minute and remove the batteries from your remote aswell (this will reset the system)
2) Hold the power button on the remote for 30 seconds with the batteries still out of the remote and the TV still unplugged
3) After the 30 seconds replace batteries then press every button on the remote beginning with the power button in order from left to right and top to bottom (same way you read)
4) Then plug your tv back in and try the remote again.... and the remote and TV should be back in sync.

Do the contacts look ok?
you can check if it is working by looking at it with a digital camera
press a button on the remote
if it shows as flashing on the digital camera screen, then you know it is transmitting.
then your problem would be either the device you are trying to operate is not receiving, or the remote is using the wrong code.
if the code is wrong then look it up online. there are some helpful sites that tell you the codes and how to program the remote.

Okay here's the fix.
Remove batteries. Re-install them wrong side in! Don't panic.
Reverse the direction of both the battery cells and install. Press "Power" button a couple of times and a few other buttons a few times. Then remove batteries and re-install the right side in.

This fan uses an RF /radio remote. To pick up the signals from the remote it must have an external antenna attached to the internal receiver - it's just a piece of wire. In your case this wire has been yanked out. You will have to open the fan, access the control box and see if the wire is still attached and in one piece - if not you will have to solder a new one in its place, a simple 10 minute job.
If you think that is too complicated then all you can do is to replace the entire control board. From here you can get the wiring, at the end.

There is a way to check whether the problem is with your remote or with the infrared sensor in your TV set.
If you have a digital camera (can also be your cell phone camera), it can be used as a kind of a "remote control tester" - although we cannot see the infrared bean emitted from the remotes, the CCD sensor inside the camera can!
If you aim your camera to the remote's extremity (the one that is pointed towards the TV set when you want to change a channel), as if you were going to take a picture of it and press a button in the remote control, you will see the remote's infrared LED blinking.
If you can see that, your remote is operating normally and maybe the sensor in the TV is blocked by an object that is in front of it, by a sticker someone glued in the TV's frame or it just got damaged by a power surge.
If you cannot see it blinking, your remote might be damaged and may need to be replaced.
Hope this info can help you!
