Make sure you have the yellow wire going to a constant power source, that is, a source that still has 12v when the key is turned off. The yellow wire needs to go to constant and the red wire to ignition, or switched.

I have followed all directions to turn off parental controls on my ps2 but it will not let me. what should i do?

Follow these steps:
  1. Turn on the PlayStation 2 and remove any disk that may already be in the device. Then insert a DVD, preferably one that will prompt you for the parental control code. Insert the code and allow the DVD to begin playing.
  2. Press the "Select" button once the movie has started. This will bring up a menu. Find the "Settings" icon, and press "X" to enter the "Settings Menu." Scroll down and select the "Parental Controls Menu" and press "X."
  3. Reset the "DVD Parental Control Level" to "Off," which will allow any DVD to play without prompting the user for the passcode. You may also choose to set it to level 8, which is the least stringent level.
  4. Do not exit the menu after inputting the new settings. Instead, eject the DVD and remove it. This should cause the PlayStation to reset with the new settings enabled. If it does not automatically reset, then manually reset it by either flipping the switch in the back, or by holding the reset button in the front down. Leave the device off for a few seconds.
  5. Turn the PlayStation back on and input a DVD that previously required the passcode. The PlayStation should now play the DVD without prompting you for the passcode. If it does, then you're finished. If it still prompts you for the passcode, then start again at step one and try it again.

PS3 is no longer eading my games that i played befour, as i enter the cd and nothing happenes at all, the game dosent starts. It happened with all my cd's

Hi,

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

Thank you

Cd player shows "err" when attempting to play cd

Remove the fuse to your radio or disconnect the battery for 1 min, once reconnected. This should reset the radio again, if it does not reset the radio. Your going to have get your radio re-booted at the dealer if it's a soft wear issue and if it's a mechanical issue. The Tech2 scanner will indicate that when trying to re boot the radio.
Thank you for using fixya.

I have a pioneer 6 disc in dash changer in my car (model 1805), and when I try to switch between cd's it usually stops playing and flashes error 4. the only way I can get it to play again is to turn my car...

These changers have a problem with some switches that are on top of the cd mech. They must be cleaned with the proper chemical and not too much being used. You can easily spill it into the cd mech where the laser is at and cause a lot of damage to the laser.
There are micro switches that detect the position of the disc tray going into and out of the magazine and when the cd mech actually loads the cd into position to play it.

When you turn your car off and back on again, it reset the micro enough to where it can start over again.

This is not a job for anybody who is not experienced with this type of work, you could try, but then it is very likely you could cause more damage to the changer than when you started.

I can offer you more help if you like, let me know.

If you found this information helpful a rating of "FixYa" would really be appreciated.

Thnaks,

Dave

2003 Ford Focus Blaupunkt Cd Player issue!!!!

I hav an 03 and it exhibited the same problems; on off on off nothing works. I discovered this repair 2 days ago and it works perfectly and I am one happy camper.

1. Start by pulling the main fuse for the radio (if you already haven't)
2. Re insert the fuse and turn the radio on (nevermind the on off sequence). Insert a music CD, it will take one.
3. Pull the fuse again, count to five and re insert fuse.
4. When the CD starts to play, use the menus to get down to the factory default settings and ask it to reset to factory.
5. And you are now working again. Or you should be. It basically is a processor and it operates just like your home PC whn it needs a reload. It searchs to the default drive which is the CD player.

Good Luck everyone!
