360 says unplayable disk

I have tried several disk and have eliminated the possibility that it is the disk itself. I have gone through the procedure of removing the hard drive with no success. I do not hear the sound of the disk rotating.

I had my hard drive changed and it fixed the unplayable disk problem. However, after getting my console back from the repair shop the green light on the console doesn't work and the controllers do not have any affect.

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. Disk unreadable but clean disk not scratached

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOmNtrStDgM
Turned on your Xbox 360 console one day and and when you try to play your game you got the message "This disc is unreadable" OR "Unplayable disc".....??
First determine whether it's a fault with the disc or not, by having a look on the disc itself & make sure it's not scratched and there are no flaws even on it, and try other game discs on your Xbox 360 console .
If your disc is scratched or have flaws try putting other discs in your Xbox 360 console just to make sure it's the disc not the actual console causing the error, If other disc are working fine, refer to the scratched discs page on our website to know what are the steps you have to follow to get it sorted out.
If the disc is not scratched and doesn't have any flaws on it, cleaning the disc and trying it once more may solve the issue, if that doesn't work try to check it by putting other discs in your Xbox 360 console, if they all work that would be definitely a fault with the disc itself and in a case like this you have the right to exchange it from the retailer you bought it from as it's not scratched.
In all cases if other game discs are giving you the same error message "This disc is unreadable" OR "Unplayable disc" you need then to contact Xbox 360 customer support to send your console to get repaired or exchanged.

Same thing but with noise

This is more than likely your laser that is dead or dying and its possibly a samsung or hitatchi drive, be
careful when buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the minute which can damage
your machine or at the very least will be inferior and not last long.

It could also be the logic board or the drive belt too, if the logic board is faulty no matter how many lasers
you try it will do the same, the fix is to replace the logic board.

if its the drive belt well this is very easy to try and is what id try first, open your 360 tray and look
inside the 360 you should be able to see the drive belt, make sure its attached properly and then take this
out. replace it with a new one and see if this recifies your problems.

SOMETIMES if a drive belt is stretched it will not close properly and then a fault like yours will occur. its
all a matter of eliminations. Drive belts can be found on ebay.

Xbox console reads disks then says unplayable disk

this is the laser unit that is faulty, it either needs replacing or you could try cleaning it with a cotton earbud to see if that helps. if its still doing the same after cleaning you could also try adjusting the laser power, sometimes after its been played for years the laser loses power and you will have faults such as this. adjusting the 'pots' on the laser itself to around 282 will help greatly.
if you need a guide just email me or let me know via my website at www.fixmyconsole.co.uk and i will be more than glad to help you.

Xbox 360 unplayable disks

What you have to do, is clean the "eye" the thing under the disk tray that reads the game, you probabley got that dirty or damaged somehow. Try spraying compressed air into the open disk tray to get any quick dust off. if that does not work then try finding other ways to clean it or call 1-800-4my-xbox and have microsoft check out the system to see whats wrong with it
