I have a maytag bravos model # medb850wq that I want to check the heating element. How do I get to it?

Hi,
To check the heat element you will need to remove the top then front console then door (in that order).
Then it will be on the bottom right corner where you will be able to see the connections for the element.
DON'T forget to unplug the machine.

Access ing the heating element

Unplug the machine and take it outside. Inspect the venti for lint buildup. Using a putty knife release the top spring clips then remove the screws that hold the front panel on. You cannot and do not work from the back side of the machine. Like this:

Maytag Dryer model LDE303 seems to run properly until timer times out and the blower stops but the heater stays on

Hi,
You have a heater that has broken and went to ground. There is two ways to fix this, one is to replace the element part# Y313538, or as an assembly P#303404. Best advise is to replace as an assembly cause it is faster and proven to last longer. As a part you would need to evenly stretch the element to fix, this can cause a week spot over time and burn out as your current one has. I hope this helps and good luck.

My Maytag Dryer model DE308 takes 2 hours to dry a load of clothes. I have air flow, but after an hour, the clothes are still damp. THe dryer does not have the heat that it used to. I know that with the...

Good day,
Your right on the heating element.
If your positive the vent system to the outside is clean, then
Remove the front panel of the dryer, and inspect the blower wheel. If worn on the shaft(slipping), it needs replaced.
2. Remove the whole front panel to access the blower housing and the chute going to the lint filter. Clean as needed. (common problem).
3. If everything checks clean, then the thermostat that is mounted on top of the heating element canister is the most common problem but is only one of the thermostats.

Maytag uses a lot of air versus heat for drying. That is why it is important that part of the system is correct.

Maytag dryer is not heat up. I think the heating

Hello, There are a couple of variations of the heating element, depending on the series number of your dryer.

Here's a link to the parts list and line drawing so you can verify the proper element you need.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=SDE4606AYW&productCategoryId=0151200&brandId=3048&modelName=MAYTAG-LAUNDRY&diagramPageId=00005&componentDescription=REAR%20BLKHD,%20AIR%20DUCT,%20ROLLER&HTR%20(ELE)&documentId=M0510059&blt=06

If you have a Series 14 dryer, the element part number is #37001134, otherwise, there are a couple of other elements that your particular dryer might use, so check the model number and product tag so you can get the right parts.

You might want to check the element first, to make sure it is defective, before you order replacement parts, as it might be a faulty thermal fuse, which is much less expensive to replace than the heating element.

If you have a multimeter, you can check the fuse to see if it's failed. Be sure to turn the power off and unplug the dryer before removing the back access panel and checking the thermal fuse (see drawing in link above)

With the meter set to measure resisitance (Ohms) you can put a test lead on each side of the thermal fuse and if you get a reading showing no continuitity, then the thermal fuse is blown and needs to be replaced.

You can also check the heating element using the same method, again, make sure the dryer is unplugged before testing the continuity of the heating element, if you don't get a continuity reading, then the heating element is bad too.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Thermal fuse or heating element problems on a medt236ayw maytag

Normally you will remove the back of the machine and locate the air tube that goes from the blower to the drum...the thermostats and heating element are normally located there.

seems like the door safety switch is stuck. open door and look for it, a little dowel, see if it is clicking on and off. to test, open door, let the drier buzz and try pushing the little switch in and out.

Maytag performa runs no heat how do I access the heating element?

Well if it runs then the fuse is ok so what you need to do is pop the top and check the high limit thermostst and heating element located at the rear of the machine. The top on most of these machines comes up easilty if you use a putty knife or five in one. Be sure to disconect the power source. a12fee1.jpg
