Remote car starter starts vehicle but vehicle shuts off right after

I had an aftermarket remote stater put in my 2003 chevy astro van in 2003. It worked fine for a year or so then started giving me problems big time! It hasn't worked right for several years now. It turns the engine over and engine runs for a few seconds and then shuts off right away. Is it a security issue or what?? Had it fixed twice but guy is out of business now and no others are interested in fixing old remote starter so I have a friend who's willing to give it a try. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've fixed that error by swapping out the PCB board (or the keypad board). Which you can't very easily do that.. unless of course you have a boneyard of these lying around. Additionally, it could be the Hard Drive, this error hasn't been narrowed down to any one specific cause to my knowledge. I'll take it off your hands if your going to buy another one though. SOURCE: GPS not working

You can try the reset button, but it sounds like you may have a dead battery. When you plug the unit into the car, what happens? What if you plug it into the computer? The reset is under the faceplate. Put your finger under the indentation on the top of the faceplate, and pry it off. The reset button is on the right side of the unit. Let me know what happens.

My remote starter for 2008 sebring starts but shuts off in about 10 sec

Is this an aftermarket remote starter? Is this a new install or has this unit worked in the past? It sounds suspiciously like the vehicle immobilizer system is shutting down the vehicle since it knows that the key is not in the ignition. Most aftermarket kits require "bypass module" to fool the immobilizer during the remote start running period. These can fail or reset and this can cause the symptoms you are having. If it is a factory remote starter, I'm at a loss unless theirs has a similar configuration and this can have the same issues.

I don't have a solution, but I have a variation of this problem... My remote start will start the vehicle (2004 GMC Yukon) then shut it right back off after less than 1 second. But, ONLY when it's cold. Once the truck warms up, the remote start works fine. The "start fail" code says "Engine over revving"... Which is odd, because the engine idles the same cold or warm - around 1100 to 1400 at start, then down to about 800 after just a few seconds. Par for the course for me - no one has ever seen this problem before. I was told by a friend not to install an aftermarket remote start on a GMC Yukon, as they are nothing but trouble, but I didn't listen.

Remote start works but shuts off right away

When you say right is as soon as the vehicle starts....or is it 10-15-30 seconds later? Is this a factory remote start? If not, and you installed an aftermarket one, what is probably occurring is that your factory anti-theft system is seeing the vehicle running without the key in the ignition and activates the immobilizer which shuts down the vehicle. Aftermarket remote starts require adapter electronics to bypass the immobilizer until the operator enters the vehicle and inserts the key. This is why most aftermarket alarm systems are installed by trained pros.
