SOURCE: How do I open the

On the top of the head there is a rectangular opening (about 1/4 inch x 1/2 inch). If you look in there with a flash light, you will see a screw with a star head. If you loosen this screw (don't take it out just loosen it) the head will come right off. The slot screw driver that came with my machine actually fits right in there and works great.

My machines has a shirring foot, so I don;t have the same machine. However, I do not think that elastic thread will work in the bobbin. Have you tried it the other way around? Do you have your manual?

SOURCE: Shirring fabric?

When putting your shirring elastic on the bobbin, don't thread the elastic through the bobbin holder, adjust the stitch length longer, and loosen the tension, other wise if you want to put it through the bobbin holder you have to loosen the tension screw on the bobbin holder, and then you have to adjust it back for ordinary sewing,

I had this same problem. On the bottom of the head there is a slide switch. Lay your machine on its back and you can easily see it. Slide it back and your problem should be solved.

Hi, I have a Pfaff Varimatic 6091. I sewed some 'too thick' fabric, and it has 'broken' my top tension unit. i.e. I can no longer set it at all, and when sewing the thread is all loopy.

If the upper tension unit is in fact broken, you will need to take it for service or find a replacement part.

This may be a shot--remove the upper thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot, rethread from the beginning. Re-try your machine.

My sewing machine don't want to work the elastic tread that you use for smocking. I put it on the bobbin. Also, were can I download a free service/ repair manual?

To seek a manual, search the internet for:
Manufacturer + Model + the word "Manual"

Be sure you hand-wind the bobbin with the elastic thread. You may also need to loosen the bobbin tension a bit if the elastic thread is stretching too much while stitching.

Pfaff varimatic 6091 What type of walking foot can i purchase for this model and are they very expensive ?

You could probably get away with a generic walking foot. They are available in the fabric store for a little under $20. Once you use one, you will wonder how you got by without it before!! I've attached a sample of a product that would work for you. Just be sure to NOT get the "slant" walking foot. That is for the Singer machine, and they have a different setup. Enjoy!!

How do I open the left side cover of my Pfaff 6091? The thread is stuck/twisted around something inside that compartment and I don't know how to access that area. Thanks!
