Won't power off when pressing power button, just goes to standby mode

Anyone have any problems with this. When I press the power button on either the projector of the remote it goes into standby mode. But this will automatically come back on after approx. 45 seconds. I cannot get it to power off completely so only way is to unplug from the mains which isn't a great solution at present. Can anyone help??? Thanks.

With most projectors you have to press the power button twice to confirm that you want to turn it off. When you press it the first time it waits for a bit and then turns itself back on assuming you hit the power button on accident.

Also, note that you need to wait a short time before pressing the power button the second time. When you press the button the first time, the projector wil display a screen saying it is going into standby. In about 5 seconds, the screen will go blank. Pres the power button the second time right after the screen goes blank.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. I have a nec vt560 and the power light stays orange and the status light is off until buttons are pressed. bottom line is...i cant get the projector to come on...the power light never turns green.

The projector is in standby mode, which is a good sign.
When you press the ON button for "at least 2 seconds or more", what happens.

Do any lights come on at all?

Why does the projector keep going to standby mode?

If the lamp usage time has passed 2 000 hours (when LAMP POWER has been set to NORMAL), the projector will switch to standby mode after approximately 10 minutes of operation. The resetting procedure should thus be completed within 10 minutes.

1. Insert the power cord plug into the wall outlet and then

press the MAIN POWER switch.

2. Press the POWER button so that a picture is projected onto

the screen.

3. Press the MENU button to display the menu screen, and

then press the F or G button to select the OPTION menu.

4. Press the ENTER button, and then press the F or G button

to select LAMP RUNTIME.

5. Press and hold the ENTER button for approximately

3 seconds. The confirmation screen, "LAMP RUNTIME

RESET." is displayed and select OK.

6. Turn off the power.

This will reset the cumulative usage time for the lamp
unit to zero.
