Question about Caroma 270W-RF Reflection Round Front Dual Flush Toilet - White

1 Answer

My toliet keeps running. Have checked valves flap etc. I turned the water off , using the little toliet tap. Can I turn it on too much, making the pressure to high??

My toilet is a caroma tridum. It ahs been running loudly, and leaking heavily into the bowl. I have turned off the toliet tap, and checked the hight of the ball thing, and undone the connection (the part that the ball arm attaches to) apart and rattled around in there. Toilet still runnung but no where near as bad. I think I need to replace a flapper seal. Thats my totally unqualified opinion from plumbing on the internet. But turning the water back in Im not sure how much to turn it back on. can you advise please. Thank you

Replace the flapper. That is cheap to do. You can turn the water on near wide open And it should be ok. In other words, if you can't turn it on wide open, then something is wrong. I would just turn it on about 3/4.make sure your flat is not allowing the water to go over the top of the open the tank.

First make sure it is not overfilling. The water level must stop before it reaches the overflow pipe. If it continues to run it will overflow into the bowl and continue to run. Adjust the fill level to the mark inside the tank. Make sure nothing is getting under the flapper and holding it open. You replaced the flapper so we know that is not the problem. Just make sure the flapper is centered on the drain hole.

How do I stop the loud noise when any of the hot taps are used?

I take it your water pressure is high. If so, then you need to have this pressure reducer installed because the water valves in the machine open and shut instantly, which means it lets too much water at once and when the valve closes or opens it makes a vibrating noise. See if you can check how fast the water is flowing at the tap first. Most washing machines make some noise one way or another, be it from tub spinning to rattling and clanking or water flowing in the tub, etc. From your description, sounds like you have a high pressure pipelines in your house, a reducer is necessary. Alternatively, try and turn down the mains tap at the front of your house, where the meter is, so that less water pressure rushes inside the house pipelines. I did that and it's a little quieter.

Rheem Model GT-199DVP-1, just installed but will not start up. There is power to the Thermostat. Water and propane are connected. No water runs through the system.

Water doesn't run when you turn on water tap?

Check inlet to see if joint compound or sediment flakes are clogging the water filter.
Check shut off valve to make sure water is ON.
Also check electric outlet with circuit analyzer, and confirm correct polarity and that unit is grounded. Unplug unit and test for continuity between ground plug and gas valve.
Make sure outlet is dedicated and not connected to other appliances and fluorescent lights etc.
Make sure unit is rated for propane. Check gas pressure and flow against rating of water heating unit.

Bought a american standard toilet tank to replace our leaky tank. after installation and turned on the water, but the tank is filling very slowly. what could be wrong?

Actually sounds like trash in the toliet water valve.....or possible that if teflon tape was used to seal threads has been drapped accross inlet threads and caused blockage......Best way to check this is to take supply line loose from toliet and slowly turn water on while pointing the supply into a bucket or something to catch the water and see if the pressure is ok......Then check valve to see if grit or blockage is in the toliet valve.........Depends on valve design to whether or not you will be able to clean....may have to replace toliet valve with new one......hope this helps

Hi there we have a caroma slimline toliet 2000+ that hisses constantly after you've flushed and the system fills up with water.even when its full it still hisses we have replaced the ballcock and the...

this is usually caused by slightly higher than normal water pressure in your area or foreign matter lodged in the fill valve body. the quickest/cheapest solution is to flush the toilet and turn down the pressure to the toilet by slowly turning the shut off valve toward the off position till it stops making noise. otherwise you could replace the fill valve w/a "whisper" valve by fluidmaster, from home depot, lowes, etc, which is much less noisy in general but even a whisper will make noise if the water pressure is to high. hope this helps but if you need anything else just ask:)

The top tank of my toliet wont stop filling. water is coming out of the flush lever??? I had to turn the water off to it

Your Fill Valve needs to be replaced. The life of the Fill Valve can be shortened by the hardness of water or by using tabs to keep the bowl clean. If it is a one piece toilet, use the Korky adjustable Fill Valve. If it's a two piece, use the Fluidmaster 400A. If you attempt this make sure you turn off the water supply valve and flush all the water out of the tank. When you go to tighten the plastic screw, be very gentle and don't overtighten because the tank WILL crack otherwise. Hope this helps!

It is blocked how do i unblock it

Turn off electricity to saniflo.Turn off water to toilet (normally an inline valve). Empty toilet bowl and cistern of water. Remove toilet, cistern. Disconnect inlet pipes to saniflo (careful as backed up water will flow out!).

Take out Saniflo (outside is normally good). Open up top with star driver and use a flat blade for the plastic retaining flaps.Be sure to wear rubber gloves to keep out germs from cuts etc on your hands.

Cover mains cables with plastic food bag and tape up. Use a solution of bleach / warm water, fill up the sanifo and leave for a while. Swish around and empty into a drain etc. I also use a hosepipe to make sure I get it really clean (esp under motor and float switch). Also check inlet pipe flappy bit and the actual pipes that connect to the saniflo

Good luck

My Toto keeps running

Yes, there is either a screw that can be turned lowering or raising the water level, usually found on top of the fill valve.

Or there is a lever system that raises or lowers the float, thereby raising and lowering the water level.

The first it typically found on fill valves with a float ball attatched by a metal rod to the top of the fill valve.

The second are on the "fluidmaster" type fill valves.

If you still cannot find the water level adjustment describe in detail or provide pictures of the type of fill valve you have and I will walk you through it.

Water keeps running even when turned of to the house

No problem on this one. Turn of the valve to the toliet just above the floor next to or behind the toilet. Go turn on a outside faucet. Is there still pressure? Wait a minute if it seems like there is still pressure to let the line pressure go down, what this is just water in the line left over. If the water stops on the outside faucet then the water is off. If you do not have a outside faucet then use a tub or a sink faucet. (if it does not stop then see part 2)....Keeping the toilet valve off remove the supply line from the toilet where it connects. This sould be the larger end. Is it is a flex line this should make it easyer. If it is a hard line like copper tubing, stop and go to the hardware store and a buy a flex supply line. This will make your job a lot easyer. After you remove the part of the line that connects to the bottom of the toilet then find a bucket place the end of the line you removed from the toilet into the bucket ( you may have to place the bucket at an angel to do this. Now turn the water valve at the wall for the toiel back on and drain the line. You may have to empty the bucket a few time but the line sould drain out.

( Part 2) If the water to the house is still on you need to go to the water meter and turn of the curb stop, this is going to be the valve inside the meter box ( if you do not have a well) and are on public water. You will need a cresent wrench, sometimes these valves can be hard to turn so you may have to use a little force. If you are on a well the you need to find the valve in you well house and turn it off. If you need more help or this did not solve this problem the repost and I will check back in a little while.

Won't fill with water

sounds like a faulty inlet valve, but as the machine has just been moved i would check the water taps, if they are the red and blue plastic ones these tend to go brittle and snap inside, so when you turn them you automatically presume the water is on, but in reality the plastic tap turns but the valve underneath has'nt.

easiest way to check is turn the taps into the off position then remove from the machine and hold into a bucket or large dish, turn on one at a time, if they turn on then its the inlet valve on the machine at fault.

hope this helps
