This is an old washing machine that we have had since it was new. It has been very reliable.. I think that the only repair that we have had to do is replace a belt. The Washing machine was on it's 3rd load of the day and filled the tub and then the timer just keeps spinning the dial without any response from the machine. This is happens for all cycles all temperatures of water. From what I have read on the site it sounds like it might be a transmission or a thrust bearing problem. I do not hear the motor running.. just the timer.. could it be the timer?
Tip the machine back and remove the motor to the drive pulley belt. if the motor spins its your tranny, if it doesnt its probably time for a new motor. leave the pump belt on so you can drain it afterward
It could be the timer, but it also could be the motor, or the transmission. Do you notice any signs of the motor trying to start? These would include a humming noise, lights dimming, etc. When you say there is no response from the machine, does this include the water valves & agitator, or just the spin?
