e7c2b53.pngI have worked on dozens of the DPTVXXX models recently all with audio but no video. In every set the HVG was the problem.
If you are not sure how to find/repair/replace the HVG yourself goto http://www.TvRepairKits.com to get their how to guide that includes the part numbers, suppliers, instructions, etc.

Its an easy do-it-yourself fix.

Watching the TV heard a loud pop picture went blank and smelled a little bit of smoke.

The first and most likely cause is that your lamp has blown. Simply remove it and inspect when they have blown its really easy to tell. Remove lamp door with a philips screw driver. The door is located I believe on the back of the set towards the right side. Once the lamp door is off there will be 1 maybe 2 screws holding the lamp assembly itself in place. Remove those then the housing should slide right out. The lamp number is 915B403001 for that model.. Good Luck!!!

Total loss of picture

The snap/pop was your lamp exploding. Your users manual will give you the part# and instructions on installing it yourself.

Heard a pop, tv went off, then doesnt come back on

Your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur. The sound is it starting up, shutting down, over and over.

You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

You need to replace the lamp in this set. The "pop" you heard was the lamp popping.

This may be an easy problem to fix. If you heard a pop sound, it's possibly a burnt cap on the powersupply. Check caps C521, C522, C517 or any burnt caps on the RA-3 chassis. Obviously be careful when checking.

Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound

Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.
